St George's Cullercoats is a 19th-century building considered a regional and local icon. The church is a Grade 1 listed church designed in French Gothic style architecture by the architect John Loughborough Pearson. The church was built in 1882 and features an impressive spire that reaches 180 feet. St George's Cullercoats has a warm and inviting ambience, which attracts people from all over the community to attend prayers, Masses, and other events. The church overlooks the North Sea, acting as a visible landmark for miles. The stonework was replaced, and the stained glass windows were cleaned during recent renovation work.
