We live in a Conservation Area and have had a family relationship with an architect/colleague of my father who advised on projects for 60 years in our family home. Eventually, he retired so establishing a new relationship was daunting. It turns out it was a needless concern and the best thing we have done! We initially approached Jon as we had seen some of his previous projects, and liked the way that he is able to extend historic buildings in a contemporary way, whilst conserving the character of the original building. We used Jon to provide outline design ideas and final detailed design of our planned extension. We found Jon to provide a good oversight of ideas and options at a pace that allowed us to consider things quickly, allowing us to consider what was possible under permitted development and what would require planning permission.
