Here’s The Deal:
St Ann's Church is a Grade I listed building in the community that traditionally offers religious and spiritual services. The church was consecrated in 1712 and was named St Ann to pay tribute to the church's patron. In the initial stages, the church served a small rural town. As the community's population started growing, it was outnumbered, and the construction of a new church was planned. St Ann's Church is well-known as an architectural masterpiece with an exquisite hallway and stained glass windows, designed by William Peckitt of York. The church welcomes visits from schools and other organisations. Their small gift shop is open for visitors to make use of it. St Ann's Church concerts and recitals are frequent events, and they have regular performances of chamber music and piano recitals by students of the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM).

Since 1794

Here’s The Deal:
St Mary's Catholic Church is one of the oldest post-Reformation Catholic churches founded in the community. The church functioned as a small chapel, serving the locals with religious services. As the years ran, the chapel was outnumbered, and the erection of the new building was planned. St Mary's Catholic Church new church building was completed and was officially opened in 1794. Over the years, the church faced many renovations, expansions, and re-decorations to serve the rapidly growing population of the locality. St Mary's Church has an ornate bell tower, and the construction was completed with plain red brick. Every day there is free access to the church, which is valued as an oasis of peace in the heart of the City’s life.
