“Heather's Happy Hounds is led by Heather Dugdale, the head trainer, who gained an Ofqual-recognised Level 4 Diploma in Canine Behaviour Management and Training from Animal Jobs Direct. She completed an Animal Behaviour and Welfare course at the University of Edinburgh and a Dog Emotion and Cognition course with Duke University. Heather assisted a fully qualified Kennel Club Instructor with her Canis Dog Training Classes, which was invaluable and gave her the hands-on experience she needed to start her own classes. She continued her education and became a member and accredited trainer with the IMDT. Joe has been amazing with our 2 "unbalanced" pooches - he has transformed both their emotional and physical wellness over the period of 4 weeks! Our lurcher cross (9 yr old-ish rescue) had full on separation anxiety - very destructive including self harming - we simply couldn’t leave him for any length of time! Our small whippet-collie cross (3 yr old) ran on overdrive constantly and therefore spent all her time bullying the lurcher and was becoming more and more fear aggressive on walks.

Joe at Mutt Manners worked wonders with our 3 year old highly reactive German Shepard. We had spent a small fortune on trainers and behaviourists for years looking for help and guidance. We had issues with reactivity on the lead, aggressive barking, always dialled up to 11. As well guarding behaviour around the house to the point we couldn’t have visitors in the house. You name it, we probably had an issue with it. Finding Joe is one of the best things to happen to us and was honestly life changing for both of us. Joe took him for a 3 week residential stay which we were worried about. However, Joe kept us up to date with videos, photos and progress reports which was great. Within days Joe was achieving things we thought were impossible. After picking him up and we had finished our training program he is honestly a different dog. Friends, family and even the vet think we have swapped him out for a different dog. We can have visitors in the house now and walks are enjoyable now. Additionally, he is way happier now as he isn’t stressed or feeling anxious all the time. I cannot thank Joe enough. Highly recommended.

Where do I start? We contacted Joe at Mutts Manners after we had tried everything to help our GSD, Luna. She’s our fourth GSD so we’re used to the breed but very soon after bringing her home as a puppy we knew she was 'special' and not in a good way. Luna was another extreme behaviour case I worked with. She was probably the most anxious dog I've come across.

Lyndsey helped us so much as new dog owners. Her puppy pre school and primary school classes were facilitated in such a safe and supportive manner, checking in with each dog and owner on a 1:1 basis at the start of the session, which we really valued. We learnt a lot of practical tips and commands for our new pup, as well as great follow up reading material. Thank you Lyndsey!

Floyd just finished a 4-week Focus and Freedom course, and the difference is amazing! He’s so much more focused on me during walks and far less distracted by other dogs. The training has made our walks much more enjoyable — highly recommend!

Lyndsey was great with my puppy. He started off pretty nervous, but she really helped build his confidence. You can tell she knows what she’s doing and cares about the dogs she works with. I’ve seen a big improvement and would definitely recommend her.

Heather has a wealth of patience and her classes fun and kept small so you get plenty of individual attention. Her training is underpinned by a vast theoretical knowledge which allows her to adapt exercises to your specific concern if needed. She explains why we ask our dogs to do certain things or why do things one way and not another so that we understand what we are asking of our dogs and become responsible owners. I have attended her classes and also worked 1-2-1 with her and she has helped me gain so much confidence in working with my dog which I believe has enhanced our bond. I highly recommend her classes and 1-2-1 training.

I would highly recommend heathers happy hounds. Heather is approachable and totally committed to what she does. Her classes are structured and they guide you through every stage of your dogs progression from puppy hood. One of the most knowledgeable trainers I have met and totally committed to what she does.

Little Stuart really enjoyed his training classes and made huge progress with his obedience. The classes are really friendly and informative. Heather clearly loves working with dogs and she was always happy to answer any questions after class. Highly recommend.
