HALIFAX DRUM SCHOOL REVIEWS

I have been playing the drums around 18 months now, having received a gift voucher for my 21st x 2 plus 10 birthday! I was apprehensive when I first started, especially being a ‘slightly’ older student but Martin has been fantastic. I have always wanted to play the drums but never really had the opportunity when I was younger; I chose the piano instead. NOW, well, there is no stopping me. Martin is extremely encouraging, supportive and patient, especially on a Friday afternoon when my brain is tired after a busy week. Whilst I don’t plan on taking any exams (I have been there and done that with the piano), I still want to push myself as far as possible so my lessons with Martin are a mixture of exercises / rudiments and songs I enjoy, which does include some exam music. I am playing grade 5 songs, which I am thrilled with and I know I would not have reached this level without the commitment, support and excellent teaching from Martin.

Cannot recommend Martin highly enough- he has worked with not only our lad but a few other adults and kids I’ve sent his way! He is the real deal- cultivating confidence, skill and passion in his students. Here’s what our son, his student in his second year of study says: “he’s a brilliant teacher, and is always helpful. Every lesson I leave with a smile on my face and drum beats in my head to take home and practice. He’s a really nice guy too” . Halifax Drum School is a real local treasure for budding musicians of any age.

My daughter is currently having drum lessons with Martin and she absolutely loves them. she's progressing so much faster than I'd imagined and this is testament to the great teaching quality and personal skills Martin shows. In short he's a great teacher for all ages, but brilliant at getting the best out of kids and making the lessons light as well. 100% recommend.

Our daughter has attended the Lion Academy now for over a year. She has had piano lessons, and more recently some drum lessons which she described as Awesome! She loves her weekly singing session and has really grown in confidence. She has progressed to doing exams now and this is down to the wonderful teachers Ben, Amelia and Grace, who have been patient and helped her achieve her potential, whilst most importantly having fun in the process Thank you! and its a 5* review from the Ackroyds, with a bug thumbs up from Summer.

Brilliant school. We’ve had several teacher for different disciplines and found them all approachable, professional and friendly. Also very accommodating. Ie, if lessons are missed due to illness or other commitments. If notice is given of cause, there happy to make up your lessons . Highly recommended.

Fantastic studio. My daughter loves her singing and piano lessons here. Staff incredibly welcoming and dedicated to teaching ! Cant recommend enough !

My son has enjoyed guitar lessons with Brian all the way through Calder High and loves talking music with him! Initially Brian had to put up with a beginner who didn’t practice at all but we’ve come through it and 4 years on we hear some decent tunes at home!! Thank you Brian.

I asked Brian to help with setting up a guitar for a friend and he agreed instantly and for a very reasonable price. The friend now has the guitar which she is overjoyed with, Brian is a pleasure to work with and is highly recommended for all your guitar needs.

Brian has been teaching our son for a year and he is an absolute marvel. They get on brilliantly and as a result my son loves playing the ukulele and is making great strides. Brian is tops!
