“Musica Kirklees works with children, young people, and adults from diverse backgrounds, providing musical opportunities across Kirklees and the Huddersfield district in West Yorkshire. The academy was formed in 1992 as an alternative to a fully funded music service by Kirklees Council. They offer schools in Kirklees the opportunity to apply for individual or small group tuition on behalf of their pupils. Musica Kirklees delivers tuition to over 5,000 pupils through Whole Class Ensemble Tuition and an additional 2,400 pupils in small-group instrumental tuition. They guarantee a minimum of 30 lessons per full academic year or pro-rata. Musica Kirklees has a small stock of instruments available for loan to students receiving Option A, B, C, or D tuition on a first-come, first-served basis.

2025 Update: At Musica Kirklees, all pupils receive a music diary and an annual report to keep them up-to-date with progress and what is happening in lessons. For payments, they accept Debit, cash, Cheque or Debit/Credit card. The music school has over 70 members of staff, most performing a mainly teaching function, with a small administrative team based at the offices in Beast Market, Huddersfield.”

After finding Gavin through a google of local piano tutors, I've never looked back. Gavin has been teaching me piano for a while now and I couldn't be happier. His musical knowledge both theory and practical is incredible and from day one he's taken what I know to the next level. Each week after our lessons I notice continual improvements and left wondering how I'll excel for the next week. After 20 years of playing in a band I got stuck in a rut of the same style and patterns and with his kind hearted approach it really makes him a very friendly, approachable and extremely understanding music tutor. Every one can say highly recommend but honestly if you choose to learn with him you'll see the difference in your skills after day one!

Gavin is the dream music teacher I could ever wish for as a complete adult beginner. Very supportive, patient and able to adapt to everyone’s needs, he makes every lesson both challenging and accessible at the same time. Even though my musical background is (or should I say, was) non existent, you can see that Gavin is a true, talented musician with an impressive background in classical and jazz music, able to play and teach an impressive range of instruments. His two lovely cats make the lessons even more enjoyable ;) I highly recommend Gavin for anyone who wants to learn or brush their musical skills, you won’t regret it :)

Gavin taught our 10/11 year old daughter who progressed very well under Gavin's tuition - most importantly, she really enjoyed her lessons. Gavin tailored the lessons to ensure interest was maintained whilst ensuring the groundwork was achieved and the important learning structure was in place. Friendly, reliable, talented - an all round great tutor who I highly recommend.

Superb teaching by Alfie and team, thoroughly recommended to inspire and develop young musicians. Jam Factory is a great option for developing a feel for chords and singing/songwriting, as well as band performance.

Brilliant place, my son absolutely loves going. I can personally recommend Alfie, especially if your child is a budding singer/songwriter and loves the guitar!
