The drum house actually worked wonders for me! The drum teacher, Lee, is incredibly kind, sympathetic and most of all, he knows how to get the job done in an orderly fashion. My own skills throughout my experience as a drummer enhanced rapidly with any lesson I had with Lee and I know his other students would say the same too. This is an amazing opportunity to be taught by a talented teacher as it helped me become more confident whilst playing the drums! This is not only a good opportunity but a mighty excursion for new musicians! I highly recommend this place to go learn the drums as it will take you very far in a rapid progression!

I first came to DHDW in my late fifties, with dyspraxia and arthritis. I’d never even touched a kit before and I was terrified when I turned up for my taster session. I started with punk dreams, but now, having been playing for just over a year, I’m a brush swishing jazz drummer. Lee is an absolutely fantastic teacher and an inspirational musician. His ever present enthusiasm is contagious. He has a wide ranging musical knowledge and never fails to provide positivity and encouragement. He has enabled me to find my pathway and develop at my own pace. I can highly recommend DHDW - it’s never too late to learn to play.

Richard is a superb drum teacher, teaching with extensive knowledge of not just music, but of how children learn. My 8 year old (neurodivergent) son has been having lesson with Richard for nearly a year and has just achieved an outstanding result in his grade 1 exam. I would highly recommend Richard as a drum teacher.

After showing an early interest in drumming, my daughter had a few group lessons with a peripatetic teacher at primary school. She then went on to have further 1:1 lessons learning the basics. We were delighted to find Richard at Leicester Drum school shortly after we moved to Oadby 2 years ago. Richard’s patient approach to teaching has meant that she has gone from knowing the basics, to passing her Trinity Rock and Pop Grade 2 exam with a Merit and excellent comments about her technical command and degree of fluency. She is happily continuing to tackle Grade 3 with commitment and confidence as a result.

100% recommend this short in-person course for anyone new to drumming and/or finding it hard to get started on their own. Richard is a very good, experienced teacher. He explains things clearly and the three lessons are well structured. You cover quite a lot in a short time - and it’s good fun. I really enjoyed my lessons.
