My son started as a beginner with John last year. We have been delighted at his progress under John’s tutoring. He has demonstrated that he is a very experienced teacher that knows how to patiently encourage his students to high standards. We were apprehensive as to how our son would cope with long periods of focus and reading drum music as he is dyslexic but he has flourished and it has increased his confidence across the board. We highly recommend John to anyone looking for drumming lessons in York.

John has been teaching my son Alfie to play the drums for several months and I couldn’t praise him more. John has taken Alfie from complete beginner to now being confident enough to perform in front of parents and peers in public performances. Alfie really enjoys his lessons and feels able to practice in between using what he has learned with John. John is very organised and flexible and sends me regular updates as well as providing feedback after the sessions. Alfie is over the moon with how far he has come and that is all down to John! Would definitely recommend!

My son has been having drumming lessons with John for nearly 5 months now, he looks forward to them & throughly enjoys every lesson.John is a great teacher, he's very knowledgeable, patient & happy to go over things if my son doesn't quite get it. My sons learning a lot from John & i wouldn't hesitate to recommend HEA Drum Tuition to anyone.

I had drum lessons with Liam for 3 years, and in every lesson I genuinely thought that he was a brilliant teacher. The way he teaches is extremely thoughtful, patient, and understanding. I am so grateful for him teaching me while I was at university, and he has made me want to continue drums in the future! He is very passionate about what he is teaching and makes sure to explain things and break things down in ways that make it simple to comprehend. Thank you so much Liam!

Liam is a fantastic drum teacher, very enthusiastic and clearly has a passion for the drums which he passes on in his lessons. He really engages with my son, has a great style of teaching and makes every lesson interesting and fun. Would highly recommend his lessons.

Matthew has recently started teaching my two boys beginner piano (ages 7 and 5) and is a fantastic teacher. His natural friendliness and patience has put them both at ease and helped them really look forward to lessons each week. We’ve been really impressed by the way he tailors his approach to their different ages and his focus on an all-round musical education - even encouraging the older one to write his own tunes from the notes he’s learned so far!

Matthew is giving piano lessons to my 11-year-old daughter Sofia, who is preparing for grade 4 ABRSM. He is a perfect teacher—very competent and friendly, making the lessons both fun and educational.

Matthew supported my daughter through her GCSE year. Helping her with both coursework and her playing. Matthew was both supportive and knowledgeable, boosting her confidence and improving her technique. His approach ensured lessons were enjoyable and were pitched at the right level for my daughter.
