Solway Aviation Museum is situated at the Carlisle Lake District Airport. The Museum houses an impressive collection of over twenty aircraft, with the star of the exhibits being the Avro Vulcan XJ823, a B2 MRR variant. On regular days, visitors can enter the cockpit for a guided tour. The museum has established a one-way system to ensure safety while allowing visitors to view some aircraft on specific occasions. You can also access information about the surrounding airfields of Cumberland, Westmorland, Barrow in Furness, and Dumfriesshire. There are additional displays covering RAF Crosby and aircraft armaments. Moving through the gift shop, you'll reach the aircraft engine area, featuring exhibits ranging from early piston engines to powerful jet engines. You'll then proceed to the Bluestreak Rocket room, which showcases the British rocket program of the '50s and '60s. Continuing down the corridor, you'll arrive at the annual display room, which changes yearly, providing fresh and engaging content.

SOLWAY AVIATION MUSEUM REVIEWS
What a wonderful day out. I was on holiday in Penrith and wanted a day out. So we went to the Solway Aviation Museum. What a lovely place. The Jet Planes they have are wonderful, and you can climb in some. The staff, you are all volunteer's, are kind informative, helpful. The shop is reasonably priced. Museum fantastic. And my kids loved going into the Mighty Vulcan. Well, it's worth a visit.
Fantastic museum. There are loads of aircraft outside, including a Vulcan Bomber! We love this place, the staff are so knowledgeable about all the exhibits and always happy to chat about them. They also ell some really good fleece jackets and padded gilets.
Amazing museum, knowledgeable staff. Lots to see and you can even go into the cockpit of a vulcan. My 8 year old loved it. Entrance price is really good and gift shop is fab. One of the best transport museums we have visited, highly recommend.

A WORLD IN MINIATURE MUSEUM REVIEWS
Amazing what people can make with their barehands! Some incredible works of art that feel bit like there are going to waste where they are. The museum is downstairs in the garden centre, really should be situated somewhere where more people can find it.
Loved this place, gave me some ideas for my garden. Very well done. Nice find, friendly staff. Loved getting magnifying glass to go round with; amazing hour.
A brilliant hidden gem. Hidden downstairs in a garden centre this is just an amazing museum. You can easily spend a couple of hours here.
