Ysgol y Dderwen is a Welsh-medium school based in the ancient town of Carmarthen. The school provides a high-quality education through the medium of Welsh to over 350 children with English introduced in year 3. The curriculum at Ysgol y Dderwen has four purposes; allows all children and young people to develop into learners ambitious, contributors enterprising, creative, principled and knowledgeable citizens. Ysgol y Dderwen offers a range of rich and varied educational experiences and prepares pupils to be responsible for bilingual citizens who respect each other, their fellow man, their heritage and their environment. Ysgol Gymunedol Peniel is situated in a rural area some three miles north of Carmarthen. Children, teachers and parents at Ysgol Peniel, seek to work unitedly to ensure that pupils are given a good start. The school vision is to allow children to develop their abilities, skills and knowledge required to become caring and purposeful members of their ever-changing community within a happy and stable environment. They encourage continuity through the stages of their development to become life-long learners. At Ysgol Gymunedol Peniel, If you are a low-income household, you may be eligible for free school meals. They serve the areas of Bronwydd, Rhydargaeau and Pont-ar-Sais.
