St Malachy's Church is the focal point of the local parish community. Their one of the 88 parishes in the Diocese of Down and Connor. Initially served by priests from St Mary's Church, Belfast, St Malachy's became an independent parish in 1866 with Fr Geoffrey Brennan from Kilkenny as its first administrator. Fr Daniel McCashin became the church’s first parish priest in 1909. The church, designed by Thomas Jackson of Waterford, reflects the Tudor ecclesiastical style. Originally featuring an Irish oak high altar, pulpit, and altar rails, these were replaced with marble during a renovation in 1926. The sanctuary floor boasts a mosaic design, primarily in blue, with a pelican symbol at the foot of the altar, representing Christian sacrifice.
