“St Deiniol's Church is a family-oriented church and encourages you to become involved in the life and witness of their extensive worshipping community. The parish has its roots in at least 1,000 years, with records of rectors dating back to 1180. The parish church is part of the rectorial benefice of Hawarden, within the deanery of Hawarden, the archdeaconry of Wrexham, and the diocese of St Asaph. St Deiniol's Church is linked to W. E. Gladstone and his family and is recognised by Cadw as a Grade II* listed building. The church plan includes a nave with north and south aisles, a chancel, a south porch, another porch to the chancel aisle, and northeast vestries. The tower is centrally located above the easternmost bay of the nave, designed in the Perpendicular style, and features a short lead-covered spire.

2025 Update: St Deiniol's Church clock was made by Joyce and Co. of Whitchurch in 1854.”

“St Matthew's Church is a wonderful place to visit, with friendly staff and pastors. The church is an active Anglican parish church located in the Borderlands Mission Area, within the archdeaconry of Wrexham and the diocese of St Asaph. St Matthew's Church is a Grade II listed building. The church is one of the essential places for Anglicans. The general style features Perpendicular Gothic architecture with elements of the Arts and Crafts elements. Each week, they celebrate the presence of Christ with hymns and a sermon, and after the worship, they provide refreshments for attendees. St Matthew's Church has a good atmosphere.

2025 Update: The church was designed by the architect John Oates of Halifax.”

Being ill and a vunerable person meaning my bins go out more than myself during this lockdown, Saint Mary's graveyard became my salvation. My mam (depending on the weather) would push me there in my wheelchair, and we would enjoy a picnic. It's a beautiful place especially the old part with lots of wildlife, and during the lockdown it was always quite and empty. It truly has been a lovely escape.

I go here once a month for bingo lovely friendly lots of fun. you are made to feel welcome by everyone such a lovely church.

I'm not from Broughton but friends family are here and I find it a very peace place to go.

ST DEINIOL'S CHURCH REVIEWS

A beautiful church in the heart of Hawarden, full of history. Prime Minister William Ewart Gladstone was married here (there’s also a memorial to both him and his wife following their death). Another interesting fact being that in 1896, the then presiding Archbishop of Canterbury, Edward White Benson, died here during a church service. Set in beautiful grounds with a CWGC section overlooking stunning views of North Wales and into England, well worth a visit.

It is very welcoming of none Christians. I am Jewish and was there for a friends wedding, I was welcomed with open arms.

Forgot how lovely the inside of this church is. Went for a friend's wedding, such a tranquil beautiful setting.

I visited today as a wedding photographer, i will be going back for personal photography, although a relatively newish church 1904, it is totally stunning, Father Neil is very approachable and accommodating, true gentleman, thank you.

Brilliant place to worship, very welcoming lovely quier and excellent organist. The vicar does some interesting sermons as well.

What a beautiful church, we came for a Christening and a marvelled at the architecture. The vicar & readings were very nice too.
