“Hartshead Pike Tower features a circular design with hammer-dressed stone, a door on the west side, and cusped lancet windows. The tower is 940 feet above sea level and has been a beacon or signalling station from early times. Hartshead Pike Tower contained a sealed bottle with local newspapers, Victorian coins, poetry, and documents. A "time capsule" was buried below the foundation stone. Inside the tower, there was a shop selling refreshments. The interior of the building was vandalized around a hundred years ago, indicating that this is not a purely modern problem. You can discover the history of this beautiful place and its significance to the local area. Visitors can also see all over Manchester towards the peaks and maybe even North Wales. Hartshead Pike Tower is also where people hang out with friends and family at night. The tower offers excellent views of Ashton-under-Lyne downtown and the surrounding areas.”
