We visit this area regularly from Canada due to having family here. I was born here in 1951, and lived in the area until 1981 when I emigrated. The Portland Basin was part of my life for many years from childhood through to my later teens. For that reason it is significant (personally) beyond the curiosity of history. The setting in The Basin is ideal, and it truly is akin to stepping back in time to my early days. The exhibits are arranged in a well thought out order, and very accessible.
