“Cockfields Farm Park is a family-run business and visitor attraction. Animal handling encounters usually run every 30 minutes, allowing you to get up close with bunnies, guinea pigs, lizards, snakes, and tortoises. You can spend the day feeding, handling, stroking, and learning about the wide range of animals they have on the farm. Visitors have the opportunity to hold and cuddle some of the farm's smaller animals. The snow slide and jumping section are perfect spots for kids. Additionally, their indoor role-play village makes the farm a fantastic and affordable day out for the whole family. All of their staff are helpful and friendly. Cockfields Farm Park also has a cafe, picnic area, gift shop, and a large free car park for visitors.

“Haughton Dale is a notable place in Tameside, UK, which is an attraction rich in both natural and industrial heritage along the River Tame. The site offers many paths for walking, cycling, and horse riding. Haughton Dale is a great place to see local wildlife or simply take a relaxing stroll in the countryside. Here, you can find bluebells, which are native to Britain, and in wet areas, you might see golden saxifrage. The woods, with oak, ash, and alder trees, are excellent for birdwatching. You might spot woodpeckers, owls, bullfinches, and nuthatches, along with common birds like blackbirds, thrushes, and robins. Spring and autumn offer beautiful displays of colour in the area.

COCKFIELDS FARM PARK REVIEWS

Brilliant facilities and plenty for kids to do. We visited for the mini farm festival which included live music, mini disco, bubble machine and foam party! The kids absolutely loved it and was such food value for money! Not a huge site so perfect to let the kids run loose for a few hours. The staff were all great and very friendly. Will definitely return!

The wee man absolutely loved the whole day. Feeding the animals and the foam party were definitely our favourites! Closely followed by the tractor party ride, the host was brilliant! Full of energy and amazing with the kids. I mostly took videos, so for obvious reasons can't post them. A great day out in all, well worth it.

Cockfields is well worth visiting. The staff are so pleasant and helpful. We visited Christmas Eve, the events was amazing, so much fun and involved children participating so well. Well worth the money, will be visiting again.

PORTLAND BASIN MUSEUM REVIEWS

We had an excellent visit to the Portland Basin museum. It focuses on local history including cultural and industrial. It includes activities and areas for children and a cafe that does a lovely cappuccino. A great museum and entry is FREE!

Very well laid out museum which is also spotlessly clean. A really nice place providing a lot history about Tameside and its surrounding areas. You can learn about the textile and mining industry in their hay day and also about how people survived economically despite declining industries in the face of modernisation. The museum is set over 2 floors with the basement focusing on the textile and mining era. Great place to take your kids or visit as an adult. There is free parking on site and it is free to visit.

Been going here since I was little, now I take my daughter. I especially loved the toddler play area downstairs. Great for a free fun day out.

HAUGHTON DALE NATURE RESERVE REVIEWS

Local to ourselves and seems to go on forever. Great if you want a short walk you can cut off whenever you like, and great for a long walk aswell. It's good to see the history of the old mills along the side of the water.

Today was my first visit after seeing it recommended on Facebook. Absolutely beautiful place, perfect for walking the dog or having a nice stroll and a picnic. There is also a dog friendly pop up cafe on the Denton side of the river. We will definitely be coming here again in the future.

Nice quiet place running alongside a river with woods and a large open field. We parked down a steep decrepit lane after following Google Maps, and nearly could drive out.
