“The Advanced Fighting Centre is a family-run gym owned by John Atkin. John began his martial arts journey at the age of 13, with his first passion being Ninjutsu. The gym has been operating at its current location. They have a friendly and welcoming atmosphere while maintaining a strong focus on hard training and having fun. MMA, or mixed martial arts, is a blend of kickboxing, Thai boxing, wrestling, Judo, Jiu-jitsu, submission wrestling, and striking on the ground. I loved my time with this Gym! A friend and I started going to the Beginners Ladies and also Mixed Kickboxing Classes a few months ago and absolutely loved it! Stephen and Brogan are amazing instructors and they’ve created a safe space for beginners (especially women!) to have fun, work out and not feel silly! They’re great at correcting faults without making you feel embarrassed or shamed and are always full of cheesy jokes to make you laugh. I’ve only stopped going because I moved away but if I hadn’t, I would have continued to go 3 times a week and would have loved to do my belt test! I’ve recommended it to all of my friends and especially to female friends. I love that they offer Ladies Classes if you’re feeling self conscious at first- I was but after a few weeks was going to mixed as well! Thanks so much guys! You’ve fostered a real love of Kickboxing for me and I hope I can find a gym down south even half as good as yours.

Absolutely fantastic! Taking beginners Muay Thai boxing classes. Its made my fitness steadily increase and I'm grateful for that! The instructor, Lewis Keen is very tolerant of my sloppy fitness and appalling hand eye coordination, so loads of motivation and reiteration without the slightest hint of annoyance. Classes have good mix of students and it a very friendly and positive environment.

Love it there, everyone is really welcoming and friendly and the instructor is great! Really homely vibe, I can see myself training there for a long time.

Amazing gym, family ran and a family atmosphere, John Is brilliant and a great teacher and knowledgeable, a large variety of arts covered, i love the kick boxing class and so does my 11 year old grandson, his confidence and discipline have improved immeasurably, thank you AFC xx.

John is a master of various martial arts disciplines, brings a wealth of experience and a passion for teaching that is evident in every session. His ability to break down complex techniques into understandable steps makes learning both effective and enjoyable. The atmosphere at the Advanced Fighting Centre is outstanding and I cannot speak more highly of my experience.

A wonderful place to take you children the teachers are so friendly and supportive my child loves going every week.

Just attended a MT trial session the other night, was not sure what to expect at first before I went but was fantastic, everyone here makes you feel so welcome, amazing coach Muay Thai is great if you have loads of energy to burn, want to improve you fitness, physical and/or mentally health. Definitely give this a go if you're thinking about it.

Amazing place! I've been there 10 years now and everyone's just really friendly and helpful. The instructors there are brilliant, too. Not just at teaching but are also really friendly. Kids Jiu-Jitsu class is really good too, instructors there are great. Kids there are also really friendly and well behaved. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone. Ask any member there, they'll all say the same thing.

I have been a member for 2 years now, What can I say? A well run well managed friendly gym with instructors who are are both professional and well versed in their chosen subjects. Guest instructors such as Liam Harrison and Andy Thrasher who are world class in their fields, students who are all keen to learn in their chosen subjects. I have said it before on Facebook there is absolutely no need for anyone to be nervous or apprehensive about walking into Phoenix gym for the first time.
