“Ruthven Music offers one-to-one piano, violin, singing, and music theory lessons with a fully qualified and PVG-checked tutor. Lessons are available for individuals aged 5 and above, and all ages and abilities are welcome, with a focus on teenagers and adults. Additionally, string ensemble and choir classes are available. Lessons typically start at 30 minutes, but hour-long lessons may be available for students beyond the Grade 5 level or for those wishing to learn two separate instruments. The instructor has experience working with students with various educational and physical support needs and maintains a full teaching schedule of over 60 pupils. Ruthven Music works with multiple exam boards such as ABRSM, Trinity, Rockschool, Trinity Rock & Pop, and LCM, and the most appropriate exams will be chosen based on the student's musical interests and the instrument they play. If you have any questions about your child's lesson, please come at the beginning of the lesson or contact me by phone, text, or email.

2025 Update: The instructor has attained a Diploma in Piano Teaching from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, as well as having many Grade certificates on various instruments. The best music school and teacher anyone can ask for! Jennifer is not only highly educated, but a formidable talent as well. She is inspiring to her students, patient, kind-hearted, and generous. Lessons are not only individually tailored to the needs of students, but to their goals and beyond. Be assured this school exists for the love of music, Jennifer's love for teaching it, and the growth that comes with a terrific education!

Jennifer is a fantastic teacher who always makes playing violin so much fun! She takes into account what your priorities are, whether that’s exams or just to have some fun - often both! With the addition of Ruthven strings, you really feel like you are part of a family whilst learning new skills along the way.

Jennifer is an excellent teacher with the patience of a Saint. She has taught my daughter in violin and singing since she started Ruthven music and is now teaching me piano. As an adult who never had any music lessons previously all I can say is that Jennifer can work miracles.

My son has been attending Main Street studios for the past 5/6 years, in this time he has learned how to play guitar to a very high level, he has also joined a band and has played gigs on many occasions. Brian and his team are all very skilled individuals who the students love. I would highly recommend Main Street studios to anyone looking to learn to play instruments.

My 7yo girl attends 1:2:1 guitar lessons with Dave. Dave has such a lovely manner and patience with her. She really enjoys going to lessons and looks forward to this every week. I have noticed a marked improvement in her confidence also, has went from a shy wee girl to a bit more outgoing. Thanks team. Highly recommend Main Street.

Brian is a fantastic tutor, highly recommend to any adults out there who have been meaning to take up the guitar but are wondering where to begin. Brian is supportive, patient and happy to adapt to individual musical interests and styles of learning. Go for it! Eileen

Best studio within North Lanarkshire - Actually a pleasure to use somewhere that takes pride in their appearance! Clean well laid out rooms, no clutter or piled up broken spares (you're used to seeing in other studios)... Every room has Decent Marshall cabs and Pearl kits with plenty of cymbal stands that are in tact (again, not the usual burst bass drum, or makeshift stands you see elsewhere)... On top of that, location is easy to get to, just few turns off M73/80 motorway, it's all on ground level so no stairs, there is always parking available and staff are spot on with anything required (extra Mics / stands / etc.) - It's why we've made it outr home for the last 2+ years.

Paul’s Halls are the best rehearsal room around. Paul and his staff could not be more helpful, supportive, interested or good for a chat at the end of the night, if they tried. The rooms are in top shape and the gear is all very good. Lots of work has gone in to the rooms and building in the past few years that make it a pleasure to rehearse in. Drinks and chocolate bars (but no space raiders) are available at reception just in case the commute from work was a bit of a rush. The rooms are all neat and tidy, don’t smell and all of the gear works.

I've been coming with my band to Paul's Halls on and off for the last 8 years. They're easily the best set up in the area, with plenty of rehearsal rooms, all equipped to a good standard. Paul and the guys are always helpful and do their best to sort out any problems. Highly recommended.
