“Saltwell Park is an amazing place to bring the kids to play. The park has been awarded the titles of Green Flag and Britain's Best Park. Some amenities include play areas, a maze, and a pet's corner; you can get active with their walking and jogging routes, as well as bowling greens, tennis, and basketball facilities. Saltwell Park encompasses 55 acres of landscaped grounds, woodland, ornamental gardens, public sports facilities, and a refreshment house. The park is an ideal location to enjoy a meal and a warm beverage in the beautiful surroundings of Saltwell Towers. Dogs are allowed in the park. The Park provides free entry and parking facilities.

2025 Update: Saltwell Park is also home to several sculptures placed around the park. Walkers are spoilt for choice, with a variety of routes around the park and a free health walk every Tuesday.”

SALTWELL PARK REVIEWS

This is a beautiful park where we always have a fantastic time. My kids love playing football and other games, and we usually visit on weekends. Each time we come, there are new activities that surprise us, adding to the charm of this lovely place. My children especially enjoy exploring the maze and spending time around Saltwell Towers. The variety of flowers and tree species is stunning—it's truly a paradise for both kids and their guardians to have fun and enjoy the day. The café is a nice spot to relax, and the staff are incredibly kind and helpful, often going above and beyond for visitors. My kids especially love the ice cream, and we always enjoy having a picnic here.

What a treat. A little drizzly but it all added to the fabulous colours. The grass came over that amazing green that makes the park so stunning in that moment in time. We went into the tea room and enjoyed coffee and a panini each. I Shared a fabulous window table with my brother. What more can i ask. I had a few hours there with my dog yesterday. We had a great time. Always a pleasure. I have added more pictures.

A lovely park to spend a few hours when the weather is good. We had a great time on the train. As we were going home we had such fun running through the maze.

WATERGATE FOREST PARK REVIEWS

This park is gorgeous, it has places for everyone. At the front of the park where the main lake is there is many beautiful well kept paths allowing large families and people with accessibility needs such as wheelchairs or mobility scooters to easily get around. For more explorative people there is a fabulous are toward the back where there are dirt paths going alongside a small but picturesque river with small bridges going over. The back however is not accessible for everyone. I would recommend this park for everyone! Pictures presented are of the back.

The Serengeti of West Gateshead an abundance of birds and ducks and I'm sure roam these parts judging by the size of some of the dung left on the trails, the aroma Which hits both barrels is an assault on the nasal passage but all in all lovely to walk around the lake and woods.

Lovely walk around 7am hardly anyone else there. Been a few year since we visited but still nice. Good to see fewer poopy bags tossed in the hedges. Shame the bridge has gone. Still a lovely place for a walk. Best time is early in the morning.

WINDY NOOK NATURE PARK REVIEWS

I have only recently started to take my dog to Windy Nook nature reserve, but I can let her off the lead there, and she can run around and play with a ball, as she really enjoys that. As she is just quite young you have to watch out for horses, as there are quite a few of them, they are tethered, but I am always careful with the dog when we are near them! The pathways are good, but if you don't know the area it could do with some signs to point out where the paths go, but I enjoy going as well as my dog Olive.

The levels of nature available to view in the nature park are among the finest in Western Europe. Otters, Lynx and Several species of Goat all wander freely in this safe haven. I even spotted David Attenborough doing a documentary the other day. It's a shame I can only award 5 stars to be honest it's closer to seven.

I love windy Nook it's the best place to live in felling it has local shops, a nature park ,its more or less a clean area to live a local bus service . U can't ask for more .
