“Barnwell Country Park has many opportunities to see all types of birds and other wildlife. The park comprises 37 acres of lakes, riverbanks, and meadows to explore, situated close to the historic market town of Oundle. There is a lovely little café for your tea and cake needs. Barnwell Country Park hosts a visitor centre, kids' adventure playground, walking paths and trails, on-site café, orienteering trail, nature trail, fishing, bird-watching hides, and a BBQ and picnic area. There is plenty of bird life around, and people fish here, too. The car park gets busy on nice days, but there is also an overflow car park. At Barnwell Country Park, visitors can find information, games, and fun educational activities. Annual parking permits are available.

“Bretton Park is the perfect place to picnic, with plenty of space for recreational games and play, such as kickarounds. There are football pitches, a tennis court, and cricket, all of which are popular and well-used throughout the year. The park hosts the annual Community Summer Festival, concerts, and other entertainment events. Bretton Park has an open-air paddling area available during the summer and is free to the public. Bretton Park has a great sense of community, with different events each year.

FERRY MEADOWS IN NENE PARK REVIEWS

Fantastic place. Stopped off on trip to our Holiday home near Hadley Suffolk from Leeds West Yorkshire. A gorgeous sunny summers day helped. Nice lunch in one of the cafes and then a trip around the lake with the swans and cormorants sunning themselves in a nearby tree. Fed..watered and relaxed to continue our journey. Perfect.

I visit ferry meadows very frequently and in my opinion it is the best nature park in the area. It features 3 different child play areas and two lakes with water activities. It also features two very nice cafes which are very accessible. It also has two big car parks. In conclusion I would recommend ferry meadows as a definite visit to anyone in the area.

Fantastic park. This park is so peaceful, there is so much for everyone to run around, the grass was freshly cut, well maintained, picnic areas and walks around the lake, ice cream shop, kids playground and Miniature railway, although this was not open on my visit.

BARNWELL COUNTRY PARK REVIEWS

We thoroughly recommend Barnwell Country Park. It is set in beautiful countryside and provides a variety of trails so that you can plan the length of your walk. There are hides from which you can watch the wildlife and lovely lake and riverside walks. The children loved the play areas which are well equipped. We spent a long time there! The water wasn’t running in the sand area when we visited this time and this disappointed the children a little. But all this for the price of a car parking charge makes it a relatively inexpensive day out . There are plenty of picnic benches around the park but we decided to eat at the cafe which has a nice terrace if you want to sit outside.

Lovely little park. It takes about 40 minutes to walk right around, so only small but lots to see and usually peaceful. The river Nene runs through and is just glorious. I bought a parking pass for the year which also lets me use Fermyn Woods and Irchester Park, well worth the money as the parking cost is quite high.

Lovely walk round the park. Different routes too take around the lakes with benches dotted around everywhere for a breather if required. Great for the dog and refreshments from the cafe with reasonable pricing. Good play areas for younger children as well.

BRETTON PARK REVIEWS

Substantial park with lots of paths. Can walk for exercise and if not for the ever present drone of the A47 you could think yourself in the country. With water park, outdoor gym, kids play area, skate park and bmx track in addition to the fields for cricket, football and rugby, good facilities as well.

Great park, lovely pathways and open grassed areas. The play area is set out really nicely, and it's safe for dogs. Shame about the fireworks that weren't cleared up, but I'm looking forward to seeing the place change through the seasons.

Beautiful large area of greenery. There are cycle paths around the park. A green gym as well as a kiddies play park. You can use BBQ in certain areas that have been designated. There are public toilets close to the waterpark.
