TOP 3 INVERNESS MUSEUM AND ART GALLERY REVIEWS

Wonderful small museum! Lots of information on geology of Scotland, ancient history, pictish stones, jacobites and different aspects of everyday life in Scotland in different historical periods! Some stuff for kids to do as well! Free of charge, but donations are welcome!

Very interesting museum. It covers the whole history and wildlife of Scotland and has plenty of activities for the kids (microsope, reconstruct an ancient vase, try on a kilt,...). I highly recommend and it is just steps away from the castle in the city center !

Lovely museum and art gallery, a very interesting mix of the personal and the political, as well as a range of artefacts from Pictish times to recent history. One of my favourites was the pine marten asleep in a tree, another was being able to create my name in runes.

TOP 3 INVERNESS BOTANIC GARDENS REVIEWS

A delightful set of gardens, tropical, herbal, floral, compact layout on a smaller scale than other gardens, but lots to see and enjoy. Plenty of places to sit and relax, a little cafe and facilities, staff happy to answer any questions you have on for a and flora, we spent a good hour walking around, and enjoyed every minute. Plenty of parking, at reasonable price, entrance fees are free but donations suggested, excellent place to visit if travelling through Inverness and want a rest from driving.

Visit often as it's a firm favourite for meeting with friends for coffee and their delicious baking. I also had my wedding photos taken here in the late 90s so have lovely memories from that. Photos taken at different times of the year, gardens always look beautiful.

Really pretty, well organised garden. the tropical house and cacti house were great. there was a duck with her 4 ducklings walking around as well, which was really cute. we ate at the cafe as well, that had really good coffee and tasty soup and scones. all very good!

TOP 3 WEST HIGHLAND MUSEUM REVIEWS

The museum is located just off the main shopping street in Fort William, and surprisingly it was free. The museum does accept small donations by visitors for its upkeep, and we were more than happy to leave a contribution, given how good the museum was. We found our visit extremely interesting, for the size of the building it houses a large number of exhibits, and we would rate it as good as a museum that can be found in a major city. There was a comprehensive selection on Jacobite history, a Victoriana exhibition, and a specialist exhibition on World War 2 Commandos and the formation of their training camp early during the war, at Achnacarry near Spean Bridge. It was well worth a visit

I love little local museums like this and this one is fantastic. Great collection of interesting stuff well displayed in an old building and staffed by friendly staff and to top it all it is free to enter.

Very nice little Scottish museum lovingly cared for and run by older people.
