For those interested in the war years & how civilians coped during the air raids this historic site is for you. Very easy to navigate & the audio guide is very informative. It allows you to choose what stories you want to listen to. I particularly enjoyed the personal stories & experiences. There are some great room settings with original artefacts that help set the scene & give an insight into how it would have looked. You can take as ling as you need. The staff were friendly & welcoming.

A fantastic museum with lots of interest. One floor is dedicated to the production of hats, felting, hat blocks and a whole lot more. A guided tour brings this industry to life (hat making can be traced back to the 1500s in this area). Guide Sue was able to relate the information well, having her parents and other family members employed in hat making at this very site. Another floor contains exhibits of hats, many in themes such as ceremonial, high fashion, religious, children's and uniform.

This has to be one of my favourite museums ever. It's not huge but it's larger than it looks and it's well laid out, clean, fully accessible to disabled people and there are interactive exhibits and plenty of seating, My only minor niggle is the public toilet was filthy with excrement on the back of the actual toilet top behind the seat - I don't think this was because of poor cleaning though as the room smelt really clean and fresh and was clean elsewhere. A free museum to visit.
