“Highdown Gardens is a distinctive chalk garden that has stunning views overlooking the sea. Established by Sir Frederick and Lady Sybil Stern, who began their botanical journey in 1909, the garden reflects their passion and substantial investment in horticulture. They dedicated their efforts to collecting and exchanging thousands of seeds and cuttings. The garden was recognised as a national Plant Collection by Plant Heritage in 1989. “2025 Update: Worthing Connaught Theatre & Studio is a Streamline Moderne-style theatre and cinema with a rich history. It is originally privately owned; it was purchased by The Corporation in 1966 and reopened the following year under the management of trustees. Since 1999, the Connaught and Studio complex has been operated by Worthing Borough Council before becoming part of a charitable trust in 2019. Over the years, the venue has seen several improvements, including the installation of a lift in 2007 for full wheelchair access, new state-of-the-art seating in 2010, and modern Dolby digital projection and sound systems, making it Worthing’s first SD cinema. The theatre has a licensed bar, cloakroom facilities, disabled facilities, and parking.”

HIGHDOWN GARDENS REVIEWS

Beautiful place to spend a couple of hours and it has free admission. It contains rare plants and trees from around the world. There is a lot of history to discover too, via information boards in Visitor Centre. Gardens have been rejuvenated, with better access for wheelchairs and buggies in some areas. The waterfall has also been restored with a solar powered pump to ensure minimal environmental impact. Guided tours are also available last Thursday in month from 2 to 3 (March to September). Book online or turn up 10 minutes before. Cost £5. Also events such as snowdrop and peony days. These are seasonal. Buy the plants you see in the garden at the pop up shop on most Thursdays and Fridays from 12.30-3.30. Discover days for children on some Wednesdays during school holidays. Minimal cost for some activities but most are free. Large free car park which also serves Highdown Hill.

Absolutely wonderful . This is an awesome gardens to visit and all for free. It has a secret garden feel to it. It is filled with gorgeous flowers and plants from all over the globe. Walking through the different garden sections is magical. They have a new visitors centre where you can get refreshments. It's worthwhile a visit. Peaceful.

A place to escape. Beautifully manicured flower beds, sweeping curved paths and a pond water feature. It's not a large place but is tranquil and you can manage to get a little lost wandering around.

We went to see an amazing show at the Worthing pavilion. Buying the tickets was incredibly easy, the staff when we arrived were friendly and helpful.

Really enjoyed our visit to the Worthing pavilion theatre. Although expensive for drinks, which is what you would expect. The place is nice, the team running it are great.

Such a gorgeous venue, went to support the UoC triple threats and watched their rendition of Sugar here, such a great space to work with and good capacity.

Went to see WMCS show of the full monty, it was amazing. Good wine and the show was incredible and super comfy seats (and im plus sized so thats saying something)

I love this cinema. Great staff, comfy seats and not packed!! Watched a great film and the price is much better than any others

Well worth a visit to the cinema. Great staff and well run.
