Highdown gardens lie at the foot of Highdown Hill, overlooking the A259 Littlehampton to Worthing road and beyond to the sea. The gardens have been created out of an old chalk pit and contain a huge variety of trees and shrubs, some of which were grown from seeds brought back by Victorian travellers. There are many different areas, all winding one from another, between bushes or up/down steps which are well maintained and easy to negotiate. All of the different areas have plenty of benches.

We enjoyed a matinee musical, 9 to 5 by the Worthing Musical Theatre Company today and thoroughly enjoyed it. An excellent company who put on a very professional show. The theatre is easy to get to - at the front of the pier in the town centre. Full range of excellent facilities and excellent access. Denton café adjoining - very popular. The theatre if a very traditional English, period, seaside venue. Chairs were multi-purpose, décor was OK for the age of the building. Happy audience.
