My experience with Northeast Surveyors has been nothing short of shocking. The initial survey was carried out on the wrong section of the wall, which led to completely inaccurate calculations. Despite that fundamental mistake, I was still charged £600 for those calculations — calculations that recommended installing gallows brackets that were already there. When I pointed this out, I was then told the existing brackets “weren’t sufficient,” and instead of taking responsibility for the situation, they wanted another £200 to release updated calculations — the calculations I believe I should have received from the start had the survey been done correctly. This entire ordeal caused serious delays to the sale of my house. The buyer was close to walking away, and the stress it created for us was enormous. To make matters worse, when the council inspected the property, they passed the existing brackets with no problem at all and were visibly surprised when I explained what had happened. Images can be provided as evidence. In my personal opinion, the service was careless, unprofessional, and extremely poor value for money. Given the amount of stress, inconvenience, and extra work this caused, I would absolutely expect them to reach out to me after this review and offer some form of partial refund or goodwill gesture. We were initially asked to investigate the support to a remaining section of chimneybreast in the converted loft space as the sections of chimneybreast had been removed from the lower rooms The area was fully boarded so no visual access was available We inserted our borescope through a hole and with this limited view we could see that the from section of brickwork was built on a timber beam supported by the floor joists and this was inpart supported by a bath type chain, see below We returned once the client had removed a further section of plasterboard to see that whilst the chimney had been supported by gallows bracket the fixing det\il was totally inadequate. We carried out a full calculation that proved this to be the case, the client refused to make the additional payment for this calculated report required accordance with Building Regulations We are of the opinion that the existing arrangement is inadequate and that this should be upgraded. Failure to do so and in the event of collapse, where someone was killed or seriously injured the client would likely be charged with culpable manslaughter We therefore reject your assertion and stand by our calculations
