Barclay+Phillips were the architects who redesigned and project managed the almost total rebuild of our property close to the Thames. The property is inrecognisable when compared with the previous building. Our replacement home is a contemporary ‘land mark’ property that has had considerable interest in the area. For a very long time I have wanted to add a downstairs toilet to my end of terrace, Victorian town house. Finally I was in a position to start the process and was recommended to ESDON ARCHITECTURE. They prepared 4 scenarios for me to consider, taking into account my preferences which were to move the kitchen sink to the side of the house, have doors that opened onto the garden, create light with skylights and have space:- so no islands in the middle of the room and no grey at all in the colour palette. I merged two of the designs once I could see that it was possible to have more than I first considered and ended up with not only my downstairs toilet, but also a shower and a utility area separate from the kitchen. No noisy washing machine while sitting at the kitchen table! The process of getting the plans accepted, choosing a builder, managing the project and tweaking tiny things as it all developed meant that I was able to continue living on the east coast, some 4 hours journey away and feel totally in touch with the progress. The day the bifold doors were installed marked a change from a construction to a room. My last visit down did not disappoint and the team at Esdon Architecture have excelled. Pamela Hatswell
