“Oriel King Street Gallery is a successful artist-led gallery delivering fine and applied art, including painting, ceramics, sculpture, printmaking, photography, and jewellery. They have been at the forefront of the art scene in West Wales since 2006. They aim to provide a mutually supportive exhibiting environment. The gallery promotes high-quality visual arts in the community and sells directly to the public. They also conduct creative workshops and educational activities for the community. The Arts Council approved a scheme called Collectorplan, part of the Gallery of Wales. Visitors can purchase artwork by making smaller payments over several months instead of paying the full amount, making them more affordable.

2025 Update: The gallery features work from around 25 members in the Main Gallery. They support other artists by renting out space for exhibitions and events.”

Their gallery is known for its original works of art by Welsh and Wales-based artists, features many famous names, and displays new local talent. They also exhibit original works from classic names in Welsh art, such as Sir Kyffin Williams, John Knapp Fisher, Josef Herman, and Graham Sutherland. The gallery also does framing services for both businesses and individuals, conveniently at their location. The collection is free, and all delivered orders are subject to a minimum £30 charge for packing and shipping. Visitors can contact them for a delivery quote if they require a global delivery service.

“2025 Update: Origin is a co-operative of makers and artists from Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire, Swansea and Ceredigion with its shop based in the busy market town of Carmarthen. Origin has been established for over 35 years and features the work of more than 25 local makers. Their mission is to promote the art and craft industry in the local area, to display and sell a diverse range of high-quality artefacts, to raise the standards of professional artists and makers and to provide a professional body to represent them.”

I’ve been a regular visitor to Oriel King Street Gallery since it opened, and I can’t say enough good things about it. The gallery truly embodies the spirit of the West Wales art scene. I’ve been visiting galleries for years, and this one truly stands out. Wayne Jones, the owner, is incredibly knowledgeable and has an impressive collection of original works by both renowned Welsh artists and emerging local talent. I was particularly excited to see pieces by Sir Kyffin Williams and Graham Sutherland it's not every day you encounter such iconic names! The gallery has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a pleasure to explore. Plus, the in-house framing service is a fantastic convenience. I recently had a painting framed, and it turned out beautifully. I highly recommend this gallery to anyone looking to add stunning art to their collection.

I was thrilled to find new local talent showcased alongside works from legendary artists like Josef Herman. The added bonus of their framing service is incredibly convenient; I had a few pieces framed, and the quality was outstanding. The team is friendly and helpful, making every visit enjoyable. ORIGIN REVIEWS

Origin is a wonderful Arts and Crafts shop which we always make a point of visiting every time we are in Carmarthen. I have been going to Origin for many years and my home is decorated with many different art works I have bought from there. The range of work from local artists is wide and the small shop is crammed. There is always something new in the shop, with new artists being featured regularly. The art work can range in price from low to high but the quality of work is superb. (If I had more money, I would be buying more art work).Well worth a visit for special gifts for loved ones or something different for your home.

Absolutely lovely shop filled with amazing creations from local artists, I could easily have spent 5 times what I did! This is exactly the type of place I like to visit!
