What a beautiful hotel. A family run business. Liz, Callum and Lorraine were such great hosts as we're all the staff including the room cleaning staff and Liz's husband we're so friendly. Would not stay anywhere else. Close to the beach just a 10 minute slow walk as was the town. Food was superb and spent afternoon having tea and cake and the lemon cheesecake was so yummy had it twice. Thank you all for a an amazing stay will be coming back. Rooms were beautifully decorated as all the hotel was and beds so comfortable.

Clifton is a very cozy place to stay if you find yourself in south shields. Very polite and professional staff always tending at whatever needs and requests you have. There is also a variety of breakfast and lunch choices and the owners are very kind, down to earth people always doing whatever they can for their customers to have the best experience. I highly recommend it.

Gluten free afternoon tea! Went for my sisters baby shower and were blown away by the quality of the gf afternoon tea. The best we've both ever had!! We will definitely be back.

Excellent place to stay. Rez, our host was marvellous, friendly and helpful. We had dietary requirements, and he went out just after we arrived to get everything we needed , for our stay. Breakfast was superb. Full English and vegetarian or vegan was no problem also. Just tell Rez what you need. The place was spotless; the room was great with ensuite and fridge, tea,coffee, hairdryer and a comfortable bed. Everything you need, in fact. 5-8 minutes walk to the beach. Lots of restaurants all along Ocean road. I highly recommended this place.

Myself and my husband have just returned home from a two day stay at the Beechwood guest house and everything was perfect. Our room was amazing, very boutique style and decorated lovely with extra little touches like water and chocolates and of course tea, coffee and biscuits and was spotlessly clean. Rez (the proprietor) was very pleasant and helpful and he cooks a yummy breakfast. We definitely chose the right location for our stay and would 100% return.

Stayed at Beechwood for two nights and had an exceptional experience for a guest house. Everything was spotlessly clean, rooms modern and comfortable with extra touches like chocolates, water. Alexa and large screen TV . Our host Rez was friendly and thoughtful. Breakfasts delicious and all in all highly recommended.

Amazing place to stay! The staff were very polite and professional, and with a free breakfast, it was the perfect start to the day. The best part was the memory foam mattress. When I travel, I usually end up with a sore back from regular mattresses, but not here.

Lovely rooms with all amenities including a small fridge. All areas spotlessly clean. Close to beach also town centre. On road parking. Breakfast will fill you the day. Friendly and inviting atmosphere. Gaining entry through key code is easy, you just need to fill out form and then make a call. Will definitely stay here again if in the area.

Excellent Guest House, no problems. June and her daughter runs a homely and friendly Guest House. Situated in a quiet, out of the way part of town, but only 10 minutes walk from the town center itself. Breakfasts are nice and the movie posters on the walls are good to look at. Rooms are kept clean and cosy.
