I am a self proclaimed coffee guru. My mission is to always try and support local and move away from the coffee chain giants. The issue is that some local coffee shops aren't up to it and serve rubbish coffee. Gave The George a chance the other day and WOW did they deliver.! This place is a proper hidden gem. The coffee was gorgeous The environment is very friendly and welcoming The prices are competitive and fair The cakes are awesome The staff are how staff in front of house hospitality should be, super friendly and happy to serve you. If you are in Barnsley and fancy an awesome coffee experience. This is the place for you.

Went today with my sister and my 1 year old nephew, we had a mocha, iced coffee, baby hot chocolate and 2 buns, all were fab. They provided a high chair for my nephew and seemed quite child friendly, also noticed a jar of dog treats on the counter so assume it is dog friendly too. Lovely place to go for a little treat. Vegetarian options: We only had cakes but I am aware that there are vegetarian options on the savoury menu too Kid-friendliness: High chair provided and another 2 tables were there with their small babies and pushchairs.

Maggie’s Cafe in Monk Bretton feels more like a family kitchen than a commercial spot. The warmth hits you as soon as you walk through the door—friendly faces, the comforting clink of plates and mugs, and that unmistakable aroma of a proper breakfast. It’s unpretentious and straightforward, serving up classic morning fare without any fuss. The staff make you feel welcome, like you’ve just sat down at a relative’s table, and the whole experience is as comforting as it is delicious. If Carlsberg did breakfast, they’d model it after Maggie’s.

Needed a protein fix so called here on my motorbike circuit to Barnsley. What can I say tasty food in a place used by locals so you know it’s good. Sign said enter as a stranger and leave as a friend . With a nice mug of Yorkshire tea.

Such a friendly place with a and real homely feel and the food is excellent x great place to meet up with family and friends.

I’ve been enjoying some amazing drinks and food at Costa Coffee in Barnsley, and it’s been such a treat! The Maple Hazelnut Frappe is absolutely incredible—smooth, rich, and packed with flavor. Their sandwiches with cheese and tomato are fresh and perfectly balanced, and the bap with scrambled eggs and mushrooms is the ultimate comfort food. To top it off, the salted caramel brownie is heavenly—a perfect blend of sweet and salty. The staff are always friendly, and the cozy atmosphere makes it a great spot to relax. Highly recommend!

Nice, clean place for coffee. Friendly staff. Perfect for coffee to go, or to drink inside. Coffees and hot chocolate delicious. Available children size hot chocolate- good for children and for adults..!!

Another wonderful Costa right here on Queens Street. The atmosphere is calm and quiet this morning. The barista gave me a larger Latte than my order (big bonus for me) Visit and say hi, grab a coffee and a light bight. You can't go wrong..
