Land Rover Freelander II with a mysterious intermittent clunking coming from somewhere underneath. Steadmans instantly took it in for diagnostics, but it didn't perform for them, despite taking longer than they charged me for in trying to locate it. Of course, it started again as soon as we got it back. They strongly suspected the Haldex unit (distributes drive to the rear wheels) and suggested an incremental approach to dealing with this in an attempt to avoid the horrendous cost of replacement. First step was a service; removal, cleaning of internals, new oil and replacement. It was full of metal swarf from wear of the clutch plates - I saw the photos! They certainly did a through job on it, as noise gone and the car running sweetly. Very efficient, and for the labour involved, reasonable price.

First time. Land Rover full service was very reasonable. Unlike JLR main dealers, they didn't "recommend" doing stuff that can wait until the next service/MOT. Quite refreshing.

Sarah went out of her way to change my MOT time slot to an hour earlier due to a last minute doctor's appointment I had to go to. Unfortunately during the time they were assessing my car, the ramp got stuck up in the air with my car on it, and they couldn't get it down! Realising that I was getting close to my appointment time, they very kindly arranged for me to be driven to the surgery, and then once I got back home, and after they'd managed to fix the ramp, they carried out the MOT and then kindly dropped the car back to my house.
