St Mirin’s Cathedral was built in 1931 to replace the old church in East Buchanan Street. The architect was Thomas Baird, and the building is neo-Romanesque in style with an airy arched interior. Visitors should note the sculpted pulpit and Art Deco Stations of the Cross and the twelve angel stained glass windows in the sanctuary. Churches Trust aims to advance the preservation, promotion and understanding of Scotland’s rich architectural heritage represented in its churches and places of worship of all denominations. The Cathedral is open each day from 7 am until 6 pm for personal prayer.
