Sheffield Cathedral was originally a parish church and was granted Cathedral status in 1914. The church is one of the oldest structures in the Sheffield community and holds a Grade-I listing alongside the Town Hall. The construction of Sheffield Cathedral's building dates back to 1200, but it was revamped in 1966, blending elements of medieval and modern architectural styles. The cathedral provides convenient amenities such as accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities. Unfortunately, in 1979, the cathedral building and its bell tower suffered damage in a fire accident. Nevertheless, the cathedral still houses a functional organ used by the choir. With its stunning surroundings and the expertise of its in-house caterers, Sheffield Cathedral is an ideal venue for various occasions. Whether you're planning a special event, you can rest assured that your gathering will be expertly managed. In a noteworthy addition, sculptor Peter Walker has brought his large-scale installation, "Peace Doves," to Sheffield Cathedral, symbolizing the unity of the Sheffield community.

SHEFFIELD CATHEDRAL REVIEWS
Visited to see the Craft, Vintage and Makers market at the weekend. However, having never been inside the cathedral before, I was amazed at the architecture and decoration of this wonderful building. Although the craft event was good, I found myself exploring the building and taking in the atmosphere. Well worth a visit as there is so much to observe and appreciate.
STUNNING ARCHITECTURE! I appreciated it more after learning about the history of this site. I often walk past here and never knew that it was open 365 days a year, has a cute little café inside and guided tours. This the oldest building in Sheffield. The people of Sheffield have been worshiping here since the year 1200.
Truly an astonishing sight. For such an old cathedral both the interior and exterior were in spotless condition. The glass windows are worth visiting and the parking was easy and cheap.

St Mary’s Church stands as one of Sheffield's renowned churches. It serves as a beacon of hope for a diverse community, welcoming people of all faiths and those without faith, and it functions as a place of Christian worship with a mission to disrupt cycles of poverty, injustice, and isolation. The St. Mary's Church community centre operates as an independent charitable organization established by the church to execute projects that unite people to tackle persistent social issues such as poverty and loneliness. The congregation at St. Mary's Church is notably diverse, encompassing members from BAME backgrounds, varying in age and life experiences. They come together to create a united and caring presence at the heart of Sheffield. The church and community center jointly organize events, including regular ones like Church Services and Messy Church, and special occasions like family fun days. You can access detailed information about these events through St Mary's Church newsletter, which has been published since 2005 and provides regular updates on all their activities.

ST MARY’S CHURCH REVIEWS
I go here to attend meetings with sheffield parent carer forum. So this is not a review of the church. It's a big building with lots of meeting rooms. Rooms tend to have tea and coffee making facilities. Toilets are accessible as there are lifts throughout. The building is wheelchair accessible but I don't know how easy it would be for mobility scooter. There's a little office as soon as you go in and they're very helpful directing you to which room you need to be in. Rooms are clean, carpeted and temperature is always warm in the winter. Great venue to host a meeting or workshop.
The work that goes on not just within the church, but within the wider community is simply amazing. They are a great bunch of people, and their initiative with their timebuilder project is fantastic. Please please please... have a look online, or visit in person. They are so warm and welcoming. Today was the first time in over 20 years since I had been there, so it brought back some mixed emotions, but there are really good people here, who simply want to help others.
Our singing group meets here every week. It's great for us and the staff are always really helpful.

St Marie,s is the most beautiful church I have ever been in. As a regular worshipper, since childhood, it is such a lovely building, not too big, not too small. Just right. The windows are stunning, the symbolic decorations so enchanting. The Guardian Angel is my favourite statue. Exquisite!!
