“Ruffmutz Training & Behaviour is run by Jemma. She is a member of the Pet Professional Guild and a Supporting Member of the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants and a member of the UK Dog behaviour and training charter, with over 17 years of experience training and working with dogs across rescue, veterinary and training settings. Jemma holds an FdSc in canine behaviour and training from Bishop Burton College and regularly attends CPD to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. Jemma loves dogs and believes training should be fun, ethical and effective. She uses reward-based methods and works on a case-by-case basis to put together the most effective training plan for you and your dogs. Her techniques are based on practical hands-on experience, continuing education, and scientific theory, and she aims to foster a positive working relationship between you and your dog. Jemma co-founded Scent & Track UK and has extensive experience with utilising scentwork and tracking to build confidence and provide an outlet for dogs in need of something to do, and will often incorporate this into sessions. Ruffmutz is a Puppy Specialist and is home to the exclusive Platinum First year of life puppy package, one of the most in-depth and complete support packages available to new puppy owners, giving you support for the whole first year of life. They also offer a unique Puppy Home Train package to help ensure that even when you have to go to work, your puppy has a quality trainer in home, to keep their training on target when you can’t be there. They provide in-home and in-person one-to-one dog training help, behaviour support, training walks and run workshops and classes. They offer discounts to long-term clients.

2025 Update: The team is fully insured, DBS checked and canine first aid trained. Ruffmutz offers training within a 12-mile radius of Huddersfield centre, and may cover further afield, but travel costs may be incurred.”
