“Kendells Bistro is a casual, informal place to dine, focusing on the quality of food, wine and service within a French bistro atmosphere. The restaurant is opposite the Leeds College of Music, part of the thriving arts district in Leeds City Centre, next to the West Yorkshire Playhouse, BBC Leeds and the new Northern Ballet Dance Theatre. Their dining room is filled with wooden tables and chairs and intimately lit by candles in wax-covered bottle bases. You are greeted warmly on arrival before being left to peruse the statement menu that's scrawled on a blackboard and mounted on the main wall. All their dishes are made fresh daily using the finest ingredients. They don't charge for bread, and they don't have a service charge. At Kendells Bistro, they offer gift vouchers at any value. You can buy these in the restaurant or over the phone, and they can post them to you or whoever you like. This is a relaxed and informal setting with no waiters constantly topping up wine glasses or hovering with a large pepper mill. You'll find cloth napkins that aren't starched, blackboard menus, and an open-plan kitchen. The ambience features intimate, cosy candles and a friendly atmosphere without pretence.”
