Capesthorne Hall has a long entrance front consisting of a three-storey central block with lateral wings and two four-storey turrets. On each side, there are two-story service blocks that stick out, creating a three-sided entrance courtyard. A particularly notable listed structure designed by William Smith on the grounds is contemporary with the hall and elaborate gate piers. Today, the Bromley-Davenport family privately owns the hall, chapel & grounds. Capesthorne Hall is open to the public at advertised times and is used for special events. “Nether Alderley Mill was run by different millers who lived in the village with their families. The mill and its millers gave the village bread for generations, starting from the 14th century. This charming old mill is one of only four nearly complete corn mills in Cheshire. Take a guided tour of Nether Alderley Mill to learn about the milling process and hear interesting stories about the millers' lives. The mill was completely rebuilt between 1595 and 1597. Nether Alderley Mill was smaller than the building you see today, but some of its stonework can still be seen in the basement. Nether Alderley is first mentioned in 1086 in the Domesday Book as Aldredelie, which likely means it started as Aldred’s Clearing.
