“Priory Park is a medieval priory in Prittlewell that was founded in the 12th century. The grounds are now a public park called Priory Park, and the Grade I listed building is open to the public. Priory Park is located adjacent to the priory. Prittlewell Priory was founded by the Cluniac Order as a cell of the Priory of St Pancras at Lewes, Sussex. Priory Park offers a beautiful setting for packing a picnic and basking in the sunshine, while children can enjoy the extensive playground. The park features four bowling greens, tennis and basketball courts, a green gym, and formal gardens.

2025 Update: Free parking, and dogs are allowed at Priory Park.”

“Chalkwell Park offers sports facilities that include football, tennis, basketball, cricket, a skate/BMX park, and two children's playgrounds. They are home to Metal, a local arts company hosting several events annually. The park covers gorgeous ornamental gardens, colourful bedding displays, a courtyard-style sun garden, and a rose garden recognised by the National Rose Society. There is a cafe and a function room. Chalkwell Park has a large lawn that is ideal for bowling and outdoor picnics. The hall also serves as a modern art house. The cricket ground was first used by the Essex County Cricket Club.

“Southchurch Park is a popular local park covering 12 hectares of parkland that provides a wide range of formal gardens and sports pitches. The little cafe is great for a cup of tea, a slice of cake, or some hot food. There is a small car park for the main park off the road to the north of the park. There is a larger car park located across the road to the east, designated for the nature reserve area. The park is open all year round, but times are seasonal. Southchurch Park offers free parking areas. There is a beautiful model boating lake where you can spend the afternoon sailing or while away the day with a drink and eat at the cafe. Southchurch Park provides open space for games and recreation.

2025 Update: The park is a short walk from the seafront and is popular year-round for family outings, dog-walking, and relaxing. The park is wheelchair accessible.”

PRIORY PARK REVIEWS

1st time at Priory Park and definitely won't be our last. It has everything, a large green space, a playground, tennis court, table tennis tables, cafe, toilets, museum and lots more. We spent pretty much all day here. We took lunch, drinks and bats and balls. Bought some drinks and ice cream from the cafe and had a lovely outdoorsy day here. Even the little bit of rain didn't spoil our fun, esp when watching all the squirrels running around. We haven't explored the museum yet, so will definitely on our next visit. Absolutely recommend going.

Such a great park! It truly has something for everyone: sports facilities, a playground, a pond, ornamental gardens, general woodland, Korean food, and even a Saxon Hall! It’s just a short stroll from our office. We visited today because it was so hot. The team has been exceptionally busy, so we decided to brainstorm, play table tennis, and enjoy some ice cream. It was great to get outside. We highly recommend it to everyone. One of the best parks in the area, if not the UK. Enjoy!

Lovely park all year round with beautiful gardens, museum, restaurant, picnic tables, children’s playground. Lovely to meet friends, walk the dog and just enjoy the scenery. 2 min walk to the Saxon King Pub, Aldi etc.

This place is quite literally my entire childhood. So many different landscapes. The kiosk is amazing, selling high quality food for a low price. I normally take my dog here on a walk and always find it to be an enriching experience, helping connect to the natural beauty of the park. The rose garden is always a pleasant walk, filled with beautiful views of nature and flowers. The playground is amazing for kids, and older ones to. An assortment of swings and slides make it a must visit for parents. They have 2 main fields which are absolutely fabulous for sports like cricket football etc, etc. Delightful little pond springing with wildlife such as ducks and fish. Overall an amazing experience guaranteed every single time when taking a trip to this beautiful, unique park.

A Stunning park, it has a beautiful rose garden. My kids love having the options of using the park or just running around on the big open green space. It also has tennis courts and a skate park ,added bonus you can grab a hot chocolate from the little kiosk . We always come back here,it’s a favourite.

Lovely place to play tennis at, the courts are just £6.5 per hour and they're well kept. The park itself is beautiful too, hosting two cricket fields, a cafe, a little lake and a flower garden. Positively delightful weekend walk.

SOUTHCHURCH PARK REVIEWS

During my visit to a nearby palace, I had the opportunity to explore this particular spot. I was amazed by the diverse range of ducks and other wildlife that inhabited the area, creating a vibrant atmosphere with various types of birds. The weather couldn't have been better, as the sun shone brightly, casting a beautiful glow over the surroundings. It was truly a peaceful place to wander around and unwind. What made it even better was the fact that it wasn't crowded at all, allowing me to fully enjoy the delightful experience.

Absolutely love Southchurch Park. It's my fave in the area. Plenty of things to see and for little ones to explore. Huge field, basketball court, tennis courts (where we do Kangoo Jumps classes during summer months), pond, nice cafe, play area and football pitch. Perfect!

Lovely lovely park. Well kept and looked after by everyone. Took kids there to feed the ducks and we were greeted by this majestic birds. Don't see swans very often and not so close, but today they were eating bread out of kids hand. Beautiful.
