“Nottingham Industrial Museum is a volunteer-run museum and is an ideal part of any visit to Wollaton Hall and Deer Park, where it sits in and behind the 17th-century stable block. The Museum is a place to discover the individuals and businesses that made Nottingham famous worldwide. The museum welcomes children with regular activities and tours for families. The displays at the Nottingham Industrial Museum are divided into five areas: Textiles, Transport, Communications, Mining, and Steam. Such a fun experience! I’d have loved to spend more time going through everything in more detail but our group had several younger kids (under 10) who, though they enjoyed the offerings, weren’t as keen on the details as the adults were. The mock trial and “hanging” were really well done and I loved how they based the performances off of real life happenings. If you enjoy learning about how far we’ve come (or how backwards) our social “justice” system was/is, I definitely recommend taking this in while in Nottingham. They had an area dedicated to the inception of Forensic Science which was really well done! A very cool detail was the wrist band you were given upon entry had a “convict number” and throughout the museum, you would come across the stories of these real people. Very well done and an interactive way to educate and engage those visiting.

Absolutely fantastic! The courtroom mock trial was great and in an amazing courtroom. The room was oozing history and character, and you could imagine all the previous trails that had gone before. The rest of the jail was so interesting and the acting staff really made it more than your normal day trip. I would highly recommend it for anyone who likes history or a different experience from the normal museum type trips. They even had free lockers for anyone who needed to leave coats or bags (as we did), and the food in the cafe is homemade and vary tasty.

What a brilliant day out, the staff are amazing, so friendly and very helpful. Haven't been since I was young, and wasn't disappointed. There is a nice cafe with some lovely cakes . Kid friendly.

GREEN'S WINDMILL & SCIENCE CENTRE REVIEWS

Beautiful old windmill. You can go up to different floors (very steep stairs!) and see how it all works. There’s a small science museum with interactive bits, highlighting the work of George Green who worked in the windmill and did scientific research there, despite leaving school at the age of 9. Nearby is a fantastic playground making it perfect for a visit with kids. £5 donation requested to keep the windmill and science museum going, which we gladly made.

Green's Windmill is a lovely patch of green space in the heart of the city centre. There is a great play area at the foot of the mill and behind the mill is a wonderful community garden which is hidden away. The mill has a lot of history and is great for looking around. Sadly at the time of writing this review the sails are being repaired and the windmill is not operating. When it does the shop sells flour from the mill. A great place to visit.

Absolutely amazing place.. Great staff and good stuff. The windmill was not working because of some maintenance work, but they got a small science gallery that was interesting. They have a small kids play area as well. Good place to spend quality time.

NOTTINGHAM INDUSTRIAL MUSEUM REVIEWS

This museum has absolutely blown me away. A truly hidden gem of Nottingham. It gives you an accurate picture of where Nottingham is from, where it is at where the City is headed. It has got some very interesting collections and a range of Nottingham history of success. But most important of all are the volunteers who run the place. They are so warm and friendly, their knowledge of their subjects and their passion is moving. It's a shame we didn't have enough time to do more but will definitely be going back and cannot recommend it enough. The Victorian kitchen run special events where you might be able to test a Victorian dish so recommend scanning their website to see what's on before you visit.

Absolutely fabulous museum showcasing Nottingham's lace-making industry and other precious items from the Industrial Revolution, including a working beam engine. The volunteers, mostly elderly retired engineers, are knowledgeable, passionate and proper gentlemen, in the very best sense of the word. A wonderful day out.

An absolutely fascinating museum highlighting the many things made in and around Nottingham. The exhibits are great but the experience is really made by the incredibly knowledgeable and approachable volunteers. Very worth an hour to visit.
