WORKHOUSE MUSEUM & GARDEN REVIEWS
This place is a harsh reminder of the reality of what some of our earlier generations experienced. For many, it will bring a tear to your eyes. The staff are all friendly and knowledgeable. Hopefully none of your earlier family ended up in the workhouse but it does show that our families of several generations ago had a hard life, unless they were lucky. It is well worth a visit to see the harsh environment of the Work Houses and the desperate situations that some of our ancestors may have endured.
Visited the Workhouse Museum with our teenage grandson. The story of UK workhouses and this one in particular is well described and helped greatly by the thoughtful preservation of the buildings and wide range of contents on display. Well worth a visit and the combined entrance ticket for the other local museums is also a good option.
A really historic place to visit fascinating and interesting learning how the poor lived in the most awful conditions.Margaret (the guide) was very friendly and had loads of knowledge Really makes you realize how lucky we really are.Well worth a visit.

PRISON & POLICE MUSEUM REVIEWS
Not massive but to me very interesting and well presented. Offers great value with a family season ticket valid for a while year for 3 museums. Great for a rainy day to entertain the kids.
Great little piece of history. Even the small children running about enjoyed the experience especially a photo session on the huge police bike.
Policing through the ages within excellent original historic buildings. Plenty to see and read so allow yourself 2 hours. Great value.
