WOW! from what I remember from be a child I thought this would have bored the living day lights out of me, boy was I wrong! Today was lovely surprise as the whole museum was free of charge and free parking (thinking parking is always free). there was so much to see, do and learn. there was glass blowing demonstration, a 4d film on glass and where it originates from (pilks), underground tunnels to explore, this was where the workers used to work, brilliant! The staff were really helpful too!

A large collection of buses and coaches primarily from the North West, many fully restored dating back to the era when the local corporation ran the local bus services. We are not from the North West but for visitors that are it must be a real trip down memory lane. Of particular interest to us was a bus from Malta that we had seen operating in Valetta and two London Buses dating back to the time my wife lived in London. There is also a collection of classic cars on display from the St Helens.

Going to The Totally Wicked (Langtree Park) Stadium for a St Helens (Saints) Rugby League match is always an enjoyable experience but the 1873 experience goes further. The 1873 gives a 3 course meal'bar and entertaining host and guests before special Stand Seats for the game. At half time you are treated to cheese and biscuits back at your table. After full time its back to your table for a quiz then an interview of the man of the match. A great way to spend a special occasion.
