“Five Sisters Zoo is a popular visit, opened to the public in 2005. At the time of its opening, the zoo featured a small collection of rabbits, guinea pigs, goats, and pigs. Five Sisters Zoo features an exciting collection of over 160 species of mammals, birds, and reptiles. The staff and volunteers maintain high standards of animal care and health. Visitors have plenty to see and do. They can participate in one of the three regular handling sessions and feed the lemurs for a closer encounter. The keepers regularly hold informative talks that coincide with the feeding times of several animals. Five Sisters Zoo features many new areas, including a bird aviary walk, a wallaby enclosure, meerkats, cranes, and a wide enclosure for giant tortoises.

2025 Update: Five Sisters Zoo is run by Brian and Shirley Curran, along with their family and a dedicated team of staff, including zookeepers, office workers, ground staff, ticket desk, soft play, and cafe staff. The zoo has plenty of covered areas and several places to eat, making it a great place to spend a full day. Check out the facilities and start planning your visit.”

FIVE SISTERS ZOO REVIEWS

We booked the big cat photography tour. First off all the staff were amazing. Emma took us round and was so helpful and full of information about all the animals you can tell its more than a "job" for her she helped me get some amazing photos by throwing bits of meat that got the cats in some amazing poses. We got so close to the animals at was great. And once the tour was over we were free to wander round the zoo for the rest of the day. The cafe was top notch too so no need to bring a picnic. All in all what a special day out.

We had a lovely day out at the 5 sistees zoo, during the school holidays, there was a lovely Wall of remembrance as you walk into the zoo for all the animals that lost their lives in the fire. The animals were beautiful and very well looked after. most of them were out and about enjoying the sun, there is plenty seating round about the zoo if you are like me and have mobility issues and need a wee break. We took our own food with us to save on cost, which we could leave in the car and go back for it when we wanted to eat it. I would highly recommend the zoo.

Perfect place for kids for fun. What an amazing zoo. Surprised to see so many animals out and about on such a chilly day. Really enjoyed seeing them all but particular highlights included the fruit bats, the playful otters, the talking parrots had brilliant day out.

ALMOND VALLEY REVIEWS

Had a great day out here with my 8yo daughter. Staff are really friendly and helpful. It's just the right size to have lots of activities within an easy walking distance. We spent 4 hours there doing lots of fun activities and seeing the well looked after animals. It is clean and well thought out. The face painter was very talented and my daughter loved it. And the museum was nice to go round to finish the day off. Brilliant day out.

Amazing place! We spent the whole day here with friends and their kids (took picnic food with us) Everyone had a blast. Plenty to do for tiny tots all the way up to the men children my teenager didn't look at his phone all day except for a quick peep while he was eating lunch, never once complained that he was bored and the toddler never stopped until she passed out in the car on the way home, we will absolutely be back - don't think we even got to see it all! And we lost track of time so missed the tractor ride, would recommend it to anyone with kids. Excellent day out.

Almond Valley is a great day out for kids, I would say most appropriate for those 8 and under. There are so many parks and so many different things to do you can easily spend hours there.

What a fantastic museum to visit. We visited today and spent quite a few hours taking in all the information, displays and memorabilia on display. Nothing was too much trouble for the volunteers who took the time to make the visit such a brilliant experience. I would highly recommend that you take the time to visit and support this venue you will not be disappointed. We look forward to going back in the new year to take in the new displays that are being planned.

Fantastic museum! I absolutely love it here and I will have to say you'd likely spend many hours looking at everything and getting the full experience or may need to split it into two days as there's so much on offer here. If you love military history this is heaven. The staff are wonderful and a good laugh to chat to. super welcoming, very good value for entry cost, great location, although no cafe there is always the offer of tea/coffee etc from staff. Many things here to enjoy and also one of the biggest military history libraries (I believe it's in the process of being catalogued). Accessible and just a great place to visit. The ww1 trench that is there to experience is amazing! So many things... please visit and enjoy. Fantastic experience.

Been couple time for charity nights. Lots of memorabilia and stories. As a spiritual Medium can also feel the energy of those linked to the uniforms and equipment. Lots to see. A very friendly and friendly place. Will come back for a proper tour.
