“The Central is a popular pub in a Victorian building, known for their hand-pulled ales and live music in the function room. This historic, independent pub offers a wide selection of craft beers, ciders, wines, and spirits. The pub has a hidden roof terrace and several rooms available for community use. The Central Bar serves up to 13 hand-pulled ales, 2-kegged ales, bottled beers worldwide, and quality wines and spirits. Food is available Monday to Saturday from 11:30 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 12 pm to 5 pm, with plenty of vegetarian options. Whisky lovers will enjoy the Whisky Lounge, which offers over 90 whiskeys worldwide. The Central also has a games room with a pool table, table tennis, and a pinball machine. The top floor features a roof terrace, and events for 20-140 people can be hosted.”

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Gold Medal Pub and was thoroughly impressed by the exceptional service provided by Sarah. From the moment I arrived, Sarah greeted me with a warm and friendly smile, instantly making me feel welcome. Throughout my visit, she was attentive and ensured that all my needs were met promptly. Her knowledge of the menu and her recommendations were spot on, making my dining experience even more enjoyable. Sarah's professionalism, combined with her genuine care for her customers, truly stood out. The Gold Medal Pub is lucky to have such a dedicated and personable staff member. I highly recommend visiting and asking for Sarah if you want top-notch service. Thank you, Sarah, for making my visit memorable!

Great place to drop in with the family and watch live football. Plenty of TV's and lots of space to sit down and relax. The staff were really helpful and the atmosphere during the game was excellent. The food was really nice and the service was quick. The kids really enjoyed it and already asking to go back. Kid-friendliness: Excellent choice of menu for the kids. Plenty of space and easy to get around.

A lovely pub, the food was great but our experience was made so much better by Jacob serving us. He was very friendly and had a laugh with us, and his service overall was amazing. We will definitely be coming back.

Last visit to Waggon Team pub was approx 20 years ago. On this visit today …. Really lovely, friendly, helpful staff, really good menu, good range of meals, decent prices, lovely environment. Very busy teatime with loads of families and kids. Afternoons quieter. I’ll definitely be going back. Parking: Decent sized free car park at pub.

Food absolutely amazing here really loved the chips. Staff fantastic, great service very friendly. Didn’t have to wait too long for food. They have great deals on which means amazing food for an even better price. Would definitely be going back here. They have a selection of different meals so suitable for the whole family.

My partner and I are regulars at the Waggon, the food is delicious, have great offers during the week, and the staff are lovely and friendly!

My new favourite pub. Love this place with its great beers, such unique historic character in all the rooms it has, and there are a few. As well as the bar area on the ground floor, it has another 2 rooms too, and then as you go upstairs, there is a pool room, and to top it off, another bar and roof terrace. Not had any food and unsure on the latest offerings. Really friendly staff. You won't find another place like it, exceptional.

The friendliest and most helpful staff we encountered on our pub crawl of Newcastle/Gateshead. Based off a few vague statements from my wife, they were able to pluck a beer that she loved. I must confess it was an excellent choice. The interior was like a dive bar, but not as shabby - loved it.

A must visit. Great history, architecture not to forget the ales, beers and locally sourced bar food. Can't wait to go back.
