Speciality:
“The Handmade Bakery is a not-for-profit, community-supported artisan bakery that produces 2,000 loaves of real bread and patisserie each week, featuring a vibrant contemporary café space. They are a workers' co-operative, owned and run by their members. At the Handmade Bakery, they make real bread using traditional artisan processes. Whether you're inside or outside, every visit is a chance to enjoy something special. They believe that good bread takes time. By using slow fermentation processes, their dough develops richer flavours, better texture, and improved digestibility.
2025 Update: The Handmade Bakery was created from a passion for making high-quality, healthy bread and a desire to connect with the local community. Inspired by a bread-making course, founders Dan and Johanna McTiernan set out to create more than just a business. Visit their canal-side café or relax in their small, inviting garden. They serve freshly brewed coffee, handmade foods, and offer a peaceful, community-focused atmosphere, perfect for connecting with others.”
