“Characters Cafe is an independent, family-run coffee shop located in Wokingham town centre. The bakery has South African roots, which inspire much of what they make and sell. Their menu contains delicious savoury snacks, sandwiches, salads, speciality hot drinks, smoothies, and much more. The bakery regularly offers a ‘guest coffee’ to give its customers the option to try something a little different, and it also has a great loyalty scheme that’s worth taking advantage of. Their team always uses the freshest ingredients without compromising the quality of taste. Their cafe has a cosy yet stylish interior, the perfect place to relax with friends.

2025 Update: Characters Cafe offers freshly made sandwiches, toasties and paninis and a wide range of pastries. They pride themselves on the quality of all their hand-baked sweet treats. Fur babies are also very welcome. Buy 9 hot drinks and get your 10th drink free.”

Great selection at the bakery. I had a croissant, which was big and very tasty. Flaky on the outside and squishy on the inside. The coffee was great too. Bonus points for it being in a decent sized mug. I love coffee and go to a lot of artisan coffee shops, but some of them serve a latte in a tiny glass. I like a big coffee. Busy but lots of seating and outdoor seating too.

Gail's are in many locations now. First time visit to this outlet. My partner and I had coffee's cinnamon buns and also brought a loaf of bread to go. Service was friendly and efficient. Quality of food and drinks great, atmosphere was very pleasant cleanliness was good overall. And the bread we brought was lovely.

Delightful experience. We were served by Ashwini, who was courteous and provided quick service. We had Parmesan Chicken, Avocado on Sourdough toast, Ham and Cheese Croissant, Spinach and Feta Cheese Roll. The Parmesan Chicken and Spinach Feta roll were delicious and I absolutely loved those. The HC croissant was a bit too cheesy for me. Overall the experience was lovely, the place had a great vibe.

I get it. Multiple people in Australia and the UK suggested going to Gregg’s for a sausage roll and the Netflix documentary only added to my curiosity! It’s a bloody good sausage roll, and the fact that people rave about the vegan one makes me trust Gregg’s more! Staff were very helpful and one of the most affordable lunches in this country!

Nice experience at this Gregg's a few days ago, lady at the till didn't hesitate to go into details on what might be suitable for our child with dietary requirements. She gave the extra time, to make sure she was happy with her meal, and that we had a positive experience! 5 stars!

Very friendly counter staff that had my sausage rolls bagged straight out of the oven ready for me to collect just as promised. Very reasonable prices in a nice clean environment so give them a try!

The best place for a light bite in Wokingham! Owners and their team are always very welcoming and seem happy to see you no matter how busy they are. Food always fresh, made to order and very tasty. Good coffee and great smoothies. The only thing I wish they had outside seating, but even without it’s absolutely worth choosing Characters over any other cafe in Wokingham.

Superb local coffee shop with freshly made quality food and drinks. Gotta try the Canolis!!! Kind friendly and efficient service. Support local owned.

Fantastic family run gem of a cafe. Lovely treats and toasties. Great atmosphere and not over priced.
