“2025 Update: Holy Cross Dominican RC Church and Priory is a Roman Catholic parish church. By 1929, the church was too small, and Friar Vincent McNabb O.P. started to raise money for a new church. The choir and transepts of the church were finished by 1931, and the High Altar was consecrated. At last, the church was completed and officially consecrated in 1958. Holy Cross Dominican RC Church and Priory has had two church organs. The first was built by J Porritt & Son of Leicester in 1861. However, the organ was too small, so a new organ was built by William Ebenezer Richardson in 1880. Parking is available.”

LEICESTER CATHEDRAL REVIEWS

The bells ring only Sunday and Tuesday during practice. I was there on a Wednesday and did hear a few dings but nothing compared to what others have described. The staff inside were tremendously happy to greet me and answer any questions. Otherwise, you can walk right in, see everything in less than 10 minutes and be on your way. Lovely Jubbly.

An absolutely beautiful cathedral. the staff were so lovely and informative, they were super friendly and were telling me facts as I went around. there are always events going on so check out their programmes! i was lucky enough to hear their choir the other day and it was enchanting.

Modest-sized cathedral nearing the end of an extensive renovation following the interment of Richard III. The tomb is a marvel of modern design and sculpture. A must visit for everyone.

We came here as it was open to the public as part of the Heritage Sunday open days that Leicester currently run with several local venues to visit on the last Sunday of the month. This church is well worth the visit. It is huge and very beautiful and is almost as large as Leicester cathedral with a lot of history. We didn't have a guide but a kind local pointed out prominent features and told me a little of its history, gorgeous place.

Amazing Historical building described as having a example from every part of "English Church Architecture" very friendly and knowledgeable staff hidden gem - please make the effort to go and see it surrounded by some of the historical parts of Leicester.

A magnificent site - and the volunteers working here are wonderful people who are always happy to tell you something of the church's long and mysterious history!

HOLY CROSS DOMINICAN RC CHURCH AND PRIORY REVIEWS

Traditional beautiful church where you can attend the Latin Mass, enjoy the beauty of the architecture and the multitude statues of saints. Our Lady of the Holy Cross wooden composition makes you think. It is very different from Michelangelo's La Pietà but beautiful on it is on way. St. Martin De Porres is definitely have a special place in the church. You can learn about his life and pray for his intercetions.

I can't praise this church enough and it so beautiful inside. The church is spectacular and the priest was very welcoming. You don't have to be religious to enter here all welcome to have a moment to yourself there. Worth visiting.

An enlightened feeling you get when you visit here. A peaceful and strong connection with God.
