“2025 Update: Le Bouchon is a French bistro offering a range of delicious homemade dishes. Chez Raphael operates from two locations on High Street in Laurencekirk. The business includes a snack shop as well as Le Bouchon, which has recently expanded to a new location called La Taverne. Wonderful dining experience with attentive staff. Would have loved more purely pescaterian options as the fish options had meat as part of the dish. But the vegetarian and vegan options compensated. Very nice atmosphere with French music and cozy feel with the backdrop of Aberdeen's weather.

Had an excellent meal here the other night. French onion soup and beef filet were top notch. The espresso martinis made by Louis (I think) were top notch. Some of the best I have ever had TBH. Will return next time I’m in town.

Went for an early dinner late lunch was lovely food with good service highly recommend.

The Chez Mal Brasserie at Malmaison in Aberdeen is a fantastic place to relax and enjoy delicious food. The atmosphere is amazing, the service is exceptionally high-standard, and the food and drinks are incredibly high-quality. I’m genuinely surprised by some of the mediocre reviews, as my friend and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I highly recommend the Chez Mal Brasserie to anyone.

Had a really great dinner here, a first rate ribeye. Excellent beef and cooked perfectly. I was visiting from the States and am a bit snobby about our beef but this was every bit as good as any I've ever had. Nice room and lovely service too. We went back a few days later for Sunday Roast lunch and it was very good. Nice bar and nice hotel breakfast too! Good all around.

Really nice venue, staff are great, approachable and chatty, food is excellent. First time I'd had deep fried olives, omg. The steak was also first class. Worth a visit.

We’ve visited the restaurant three times in the first two months it’s been open. The foot is really lovely - it looks and tastes devine - the portions generous and exceptional value. A simple menu with one “dish of the day” and a number of set mains, starters and a couple “desert specials” too. Simple & Seasonal. Unlicensed so BYOB and no corkage. Book - as there’s only a few tables and Friday/Saturday are always well booked.

Emmanuel serves amazing French food based on local ingredients and traditional recipes. Made with love, served with humor! A place to visit for romantic evenings but also for friends and family just to enjoy good food and a nice and memorable evening.

What a truly wonderful evening at Le Bouchon Taverne in Laurencekirk! Transported to France through Emmanuel’s history of French cooking with the taste and flavour to match. Absolutely delicious and highly recommended!!
