“Shajan serves authentically prepared Indian dishes in an elegant setting, with value-for-money services. The restaurant accommodates up to 205 guests, excluding the lounge. They can cater to weddings, birthdays, graduation parties, anniversaries, garden parties and corporate functions. All curries can be made vegetarian for £10.95. All the royal meals are offered with rice salad or chips. Most dishes are prepared with onions, capsicum, fenugreek, spices, and fresh tomatoes. The chicken banjara is made with chicken, freshly ground herbs, pepper, red chilli, tomatoes, and spices. Try their fish johl, a typical Bengali fish dish cooked with specially spiced cod, then fried and served with prawn bhaji and rice. Dine-in, takeaway, and table reservations are also available here. They also cater for events.

A very popular curry house. The food was very good with plenty to eat and reasonably priced. My only problem with the restaurant was the ‘in your face’ service. Minutes after we sat down we were being pushed as to what we wanted to drink, not once but three times. The same with the food order. Prompt service I like, this I did not. If it wasn’t for this reason I would have no hesitation in giving rude restaurant 5 stars.

A great modern Indian restaurant on Longsight Rd, nr Blackburn. Plenty of seating, lovely black and white decor and plenty of staff. The food was delicious, I had Paneer Balti with rice and tandoori roti. Although the menu doesn't list any vegetarian dishes there is a paragraph that states that any dish can be made vegetarian. I asked if I could have Paneer and they said no problem, so I chose a Balti. Pity they don't actually list vegetarian dishes along with the meat versions as it could put vegetarians off who don't see the paragraph.

Lovely place, great food, attentive service. Vegetarian options not listed on menu but they're willing to convert most dishes for you. I had paneer Balti and it was lovely.

First time here since becoming Akbar's from a previous restaurant. Excellent place for an evening meal out. Everything from service to food to facilities such as toilets, etc, were all very good. Couldn't find any reason to fault. Portion sizes for main meals were bigger than I was expecting, so much so that I took the rest home. Would recommend and would definitely go again.

I used to be a regular of the Glasgow branch of Akbar's. This one is newer and even more extravagant. The service provided was second to none, and the interior was just beautiful. The food was delicious too. I love that the prices are reasonable even though they've gotten so much bigger than when I used to go during my uni days. Thoroughly recommend a visit. FYI they also have their own car park round the corner which is useful.

Akbars in Blackburn is the vibe. Great service from Shaid … very friendly and helpful. Always love the food especially the fish karaii. The best from any asian restaurant!

Superb levels of deep flavours. These dishes are not quick flash fried food. The food is treated with the care and respect you would hope more restaurants could manage but often don’t. The uniqueness of these South Indian flavours are way above the competition in this area.

Went tonight, my 6th or 7th visit. Always stunningly good. Very friendly staff and the food - best Indian / Asian food I’ve ever had. Had the kingfish starter and it was just perfect, spicy and super tasty. The main course with coconut rice was 10/10. Lovely friendly owner and staff. I’ve never had better food. By far the best “Indian” in the north west. Thank you.

Absolutely delicious food. We had a range of meat and fish dishes and everything was cooked to perfection. For me, the best Indian food I have tasted.
