Had gone drinking with a friend in coventry - When leaving, he said, let me take you on tour of coventry Guildhall where his daughters wedding took place. The entrance is through quaint cobbled road and the court yard has friendship statue. Narrow period staircase leads to the inner sanctum of Guildhall. It has ample hall. On day of my visit there were members of metal detector association setting up their exhibition. It was quite good meeting and talking to them about thier hobby.

What a gem! A little out of town on Upper Spon Street, this museum is run by excellent volunteers who make it what it is. Pick an open day and they will show you how to use a loom, spin wool and silk, and show you the full scale replica loom of the type that would have been used here. Wander the garden out the back to see plants used for dying the material as well as feeding the families. A little cafe also in the rear garden gives you a chance for a sit and a cuppa.
