Coombe Country Park is popular with kids who enjoy activities. The park covers 500 acres of woodlands, formal gardens, an arboretum, open grasslands and a lake. Ryton Pools Country Park covers 100 acres and is home to many birds and other wildlife habitats. They have a toddler swing, junior swing, double see-saw, snowboard springer, wooden boat, bird's nest swing, and rope climb. There is plenty of parking, bikes for hire, playgrounds, and a café. Parking is chargeable. The park is an environmental and recreational resource that connects people with nature in an interactive way. The adventure play space in the foothills is suitable for older children. Ryton Pools Country Park offers a walk and events programme for all ages and interests throughout the year.

2025 Update: Their spacious education centre is available for hire and offers an ideal setting for meetings, family gatherings, or regular workshops. It seats up to 30 adults, with catering available from Farmers Fayre.
