BROUGHTY CASTLE MUSEUM REVIEWS
My wife and I visited this castle and museum on a Sunday. The castle and walls themselves are interesting and nice to look at. They offer great views over the firth of Tay and Brought Ferry beach. The cannons outside are pretty big and very cool The museum inside is not too bad. It is fairly small bit has some nice pieces with interesting history briefly explained. And of course it is free, which is fantastic. The only thing negative to say, the spiral staircase you have to use to get upstairs is narrow and very steep. It proved too much for my wife!! Would recommend, visit here and the beach together for an interesting and relaxing afternoon.
So this place was just amazing. The waters surrounding the area were swirling in all different directions making the most amazing patterns of water I have ever seen. It was one of those things you had to see in order to appreciate. It was amazing. Anyhoo the castle has no wheel chair user access. It does have an entrance uphill to it which is all cobbled and potentially dangerous for wheel chair users. The castle it's self is all tight spiral staircase that takes you to all of the interesting floors each with their own views. The top has a viewing area which is lovely.
Small castle that is absolutely free to walk around with great views at the top where if you get there early there is a chance to see dolphins. It takes about an hour to walk around the whole castle but when you have finished you can walk along a beautiful sandy beach.

Claypotts Castle is a distinctive and unique castle in Dundee, United Kingdom. This castle stands as one of the well-preserved examples of a 16th-century Z-plan tower residence in Scotland. John Strachan initially constructed it between 1569 and 1588. The transition away from the dominance of the Catholic church at the time elevated the status of John Strachan and his wife. To commemorate this change, they took possession of Claypotts and erected a castle for their family, which included seven children. Claypotts Castle was constructed when the defensive requirements of a castle were beginning to blend with considerations of aesthetics and comfort. Its impressive state of preservation is the result of nearly 500 years of continuous occupation. Today, Claypotts Castle is under the care of Historic Environment Scotland and is recognised as an ancient monument.

CLAYPOTTS CASTLE REVIEWS
It looks small from the outside but its quite deceptive, there are a few interesting things... And the keyholder was very informative. And very pleasant, would definitely recommend you give it a look.. And Broughty Ferry isnt too far away with lots of shops and Another Castle to view which worth a visit too..
Excellent castle. I used to live near here when I was at primary school. I’ve passed a few times, but never stopped off until today. There was a nice lady also visiting, and when I suggested she also visit Broughty Castle, she drove us there, and visited also. Thanks Francine.
Lovely castle with a phone number to call if you want to gain entry. Not large grounds but they are lovely. The castle itself is beautifully crafted and maintained.

MAINS CASTLE REVIEWS
We were here for my daughter's engagement and the staff were amazing, they made the place look brilliant and couldn't have asked for anything better, food was also amazing, had my 90 year old grandmother here and again the owners made sure she had everything she needed, brilliant people, thank you again.. If I could give more stars I would xx.
I was here during a music event but fell in love with the castle. It is just so beautiful inside out. The size from the outside is misleading, as it's quite spacious inside and with a beautiful courtyard where a majestic tree sits in the middle. Definitely worth having or participating in an event here. It's quite the experience and will definitely come back.
Lovely place well kept me and my friend was there for a spiritual meeting so in the right place but a really lovely place.
