The castle narrates the site's story, tracing its origins from an Anglo-Saxon settlement to a royal castle, an Anglican monastery, an artillery fort, and a coastal defence. With 2000 years of history and picturesque views, Tynemouth Priory and Castle offer the perfect setting for an enjoyable day out for children. The castle is a popular spot for savouring sea fish and chips while taking in panoramic views. It also serves as an ideal location for a picnic, providing a relaxing environment to recline and appreciate the water. TYNEMOUTH PRIORY AND CASTLE REVIEWS
Beautiful place! There is a long stretch that leads up to a lighthouse that gives beautiful views of the North Sea and the back of the Priory and Castle, gorgeous detail to the brick and building. Dogs can go to as long as they are on the lead!
Eleanor and her colleague were brilliant and helped us really enjoy the visit. The site is really something to see, and the weather happened to be truly excellent. We are very grateful for the luck and for the assistance. And I hope I spelled your name right.
Haven’t visited the inside of the castle but it already looks stunning in the outside. A lot of cafes nearby which is great spot for tourists who want to have a great view of the coast and to fill their tummies in???? you can as well enjoy the beach below. Will be going back again to look what are stored inside.

St Mary's Lighthouse has all the attractions of a part-time, miniature island, set in a beautiful wildlife reserve, with grey seals, dolphins and birds to spot in the rockpools, wetland and beach and cliff top areas. The lighthouse remained operational until it was replaced by modern navigation techniques in 1984. The climb to the tower of the tower is 137 steps up to the most panoramic views of England's northeast coast, and is available during lighthouse and gift shop opening times. There is an extensive range of activities for educational visits, events for families, groups, parties, weddings and room hire. St Mary's Lighthouse has an extensive and unusual range of gifts, souvenirs, books, toys and cards and sells hot drinks and refreshments. It is a nice place to visit and enjoy with your family.

ST MARY'S LIGHTHOUSE REVIEWS
Great little place to go to when the tide lets you, there’s an inexpensive car park just before the causeway and then you can walk over to the island. The lighthouse has a gift shop that’s open at varying times depending on the tides and time of year, and you can also pay for a tour of the lighthouse. The island is also a seal sanctuary and you will almost certainly be able to see some when you’re there - and there’s no charge of that!
Beautiful area of the country and a really nice and picturesque setting for the lighthouse and its small seal colony. Excellent car parking on the approach to the "Island". Check the tide times before you visit as it is only reachable at low tide. We were fortunate that the tide was out during our visit and we had about 60 minutes before we had to leave.
The lighthouse is open I believe very rarely. Possibly the local historical group. The main reason to visit, is to see the seals. They tend to rest on the far side of the lighthouse. Bring a camera. Parking is charged by the council. Look up tide times, as access is only available during low tide.

PLAYHOUSE REVIEWS
What a lovely little theatre, My first visit but hopefully not the last. I really enjoyed the evening with "Vera"..Brenda Blethin is amazing for her age..& so funny...The author of Vera is a lovely down to earth lady...I think I'll be reading a lot more of her books soon.. This theatre is an asset to Whitley Bay.... I was blown away with how good it was. The bar is reasonably priced. Seats are comfortable. I would recommend this venue to anyone.
