THE SEAFOOD SHACK REVIEWS

Very delicious fish! It said “today’s” menu which I think implies that it varies based upon availability of fresh fish. I can especially recommend the wrap! Small “drawback”: there aren’t any smaller servings on the menu, so be sure to arrive with enough appetite to finish your meal! The atmosphere is good and the staff is very kind, but being next to a road meant I didn’t want to hang around after my meal was finished.

Loved this place! It was a cold raining day and we managed to find a table under the canopy and wait for our food. The queue was small and in less than 15 minutes everything was ready. We tried the haddock wrap, the Cullen skink and the seafood taster. Everything was freshly made and very good. Nice portions and very good prices. Thank you guys, everything is amazing.

The best fish and chips / fish soup ever in a shack place. It’s simply excellent, tasty , flavors well handled between the fresh fish, sauce and bread… soups with huge pieces of fish, no joking with food in that place… A must try in town.

LOWER DECK SEAFOOD RESTAURANT REVIEWS

There is a good selection of restaurants in the small bay of Portree. Luckily, we were there early enough to read the sign on the lower deck: "No reservations, if full, please queue". We were the first and were able to enjoy a great and individual cuisine. Mussels in chef's sauce, with soya sauce, honey, ginger ... ? It was fantastic. And then this view. To savour.

This tiny restaurant came highly recommended by our guide. It didn't disappoint. Folks complaining about space should not be surprised when they walk in. I found the staff charming and gave excellent recommendations. We were able to take two tables for the six adults in no time at all. Lucked out because when we left there was a line out the door. Everyone loved what they ordered and I wouldn't hesitate to stop by again.

A wonderful experience in Portree! The Lower Deck restaurant is located in the characteristic Portree harbour, and does not accept bookings. So, if you want to eat here, you have to queue and wait for a free table. We waited about an hour, but the food was totally worth the wait! We had the Cullen Skink and it was simply delicious. We also have salmon and sea bass, and both were tasteful and cocked perfectly. The staff was very kind and polite, so an overall super recommended experience.

RIVER HOUSE REVIEWS

We had a really lovely dinner. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxing, the staff is very friendly and professional, and the food was amazing. The scallops blew me away, the mussels were of really high quality (and prepared in a delicious sauce), and the sticky toffee apple pudding was a great dessert. I‘d return to this restaurant at any time, it was really a great experience.

Our family concluded their two-week vacation in Scotland with dinner at Alfi's River House Restaurant. The food, service, and atmosphere were all exceptional. Our waiter was witty, which we all appreciated, and knowledgeable regarding gluten allergies. I will definitely stop in again the next time I'm in inverness.

Arguably the best dining experience we had in our 12 days in the UK. The food was beyond expectations and the staff was friendly. It’s a small restaurant, but it’s lovely inside. Don’t miss out on this during your visit to Inverness - and reserve early.
