NATIONAL GALLERIES OF SCOTLAND: PORTRAIT REVIEWS
Absolutely love the Great Hall, with its star-studded wall murals & constellation ceiling. We had limited time, so only visited the Reformation era rooms. Saw some paintings I'd never seen before, like the one with insets of the beheading of Charles I. Fascinating paintings of several queens, which has led me want to learn more. Pleasant staff, clean interior, and lovely building architecture. In this Monday afternoon, no crowds either. Admission is free.
The Gallery encompassed the past and present beautifully, there is a lot to see and the architecture + portraits are beautiful. Entry is free and there is a medium sized locker to keep luggage with the cost being a donation.
Surprisingly fantastic. Tells many stories of Scotland’s making and heritage through its portraits and comes right up to modern day. Do in chronological order from the top floor. Beautiful building as well, especially the great hall. And a lovely cafe with tasty salads and cakes. Including gluten free ones.

NATIONAL GALLERIES OF SCOTLAND: MODERN ONE REVIEWS
I had to pop here to pick up a Click and collect item from the gift shop. The staff were extremely helpful and once I did that, I then had a wander around the gallery. Lots to see, from paintings to video installations. The grounds of this gallery are simply beautiful. It was a lovely sunny day when I attended, so afterwards, I sat outside on one of the numerous benches and read, just enjoying the view and tranquility. Recommended for a nice afternoon.
Two modern art galleries with a short walk in between. Helpful descriptions in the rooms. Great cafe with blankets available to take out and sit on the lawn to enjoy the sculptures.
This place exceeded my expectations. It is a lovely museum. It has a sampling of many influential artists of the last century. It's worth the trip.
