Made it here on a Saturday afternoon before catching a bus down to Dublin. Luckily the bus station is just across the street. Knew this place was legendary so I saved a meal and a few pints as my last stop. Downstairs in the bar area was pretty packed so luckily I asked about food and was told to head upstairs. Much quieter and more comfortable. Some good beers on draft and cask and a truly stellar menu. Traditional food that's clearly fresh and thoughtful. Started with a mushroom soup that was stellar and then enjoyed a proper pie. The younger folks running the upstairs were incredible. Super friendly, hard-working, patient, helpful. It was pretty busy but they handled it well. Would return without hesitation.

This is definitely a must-see. This place has a cool vibe and is just beautiful. If you want to step in and take pictures and walk around, no problem. I got a drink and some food at the bar. It was good. For regular tables, those are in cubbies with doors, so good privacy. There's also an upstairs area. It's not as decorative, and at the time I went up there, it was pretty empty. I loved my experience.

We spent 3 different times there and were absolutely touched by the luxurious decors and the possibility of intimacy in such a public house! The food was really good and you'll surely find the right drink to accompany it. The choice is so vast. Go ahead and enjoy!

If I could give James St 10 stars, I would. The food is absolutely outstanding! For starters, we had the crispy squid, which came with a lovely red peppery sauce (delicious!). Then we decided to go for the steak to share, so we ordered the Tomahawk. It does take a while to arrive, but wow, it was worth it. The meat was cooked to perfection. It was tender, tasty, and just incredible. The steak to share comes with a choice of two sauces and two sides (we both went for the bernaise and the truffle & parmesan chips...I don't even have to say that both were delicious!). James St. Is a must for anyone in Belfast.

Booked here for a birthday meal whilst visiting Belfast. From entering you experience a first class experience. The staff are lovely and on the right side of attentive. The menu first class. Highly recommend the chateaubriand and the crab linguine. Oh and not to mention the Coconut Martini. Priced right for the whole experience.

The fish fillets are perfectly prepared – crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside – and the chips are golden brown and wonderfully crispy. It's clear that fresh ingredients and a lot of skill go into the cooking here.In addition to the fantastic Fish and Chips, the menu offers a wide variety of other dishes, all equally tasty. The portions are generous, and the value for money is excellent.The Morning Star Pub is the perfect place to spend a relaxed evening, whether with friends or family. The laid-back atmosphere, combined with the high quality of the food and drinks, makes every visit a delight. This pub is definitely one of the best in Belfast, and I can only highly recommend it!

Fabulous burger here today! Recommended by our Uber driver. Shaun was our waiter who has only done a few shifts so far. He was well mannered, accommodating and sweet young lad. Great pub for grub thank you Shaun and team.

Owen was superb very attentive. Went to lounge upstairs for a quick lunch. Food arrive quick and taste soooo good, fresh chips nice steak and good peppercorn sauce. Very good value and nice atmosphere. If looking for quick quality well priced one try it out. Never go wrong with steak in morning star.
